Turbo replacement

I have an 01 A4 with a PES T28 turbo kit in it. I blew the turbo like an asshole so now I need to replace the T28. Is it possible to replace the T28 with a GT28 instead being that its the same size? would I have to retune the car or is it essentially the same tune being that the turbos are almost the same

Same size slightly off should really affect it unless it spools quicker then it might throw the car randomly into limp mode, which i doubt.
