Typically how much does it cost to replace the whole kit? Stealership wants $1,777 and i think it's a total rip off. Anyone can do it for under $1,000?

    TIA.

There are a handful of techs in the area who can do the job for $300 + parts. I know a guy in NJ who i have used in the past if you are interested.

Indy shops would be slightly higher.

Thanks, but I'm hoping somewhere closer to me, like around Boston.

Try giving Murphy Brothers in Quincy a call. They run a shop that specializes only in VW and Audi and I remember once getting a coupon in the mail from them for a $200 timing belt job. However I don't know what that all entails as I have never used them and their idea of a timing belt replacement could just be replacing the belt and not all of the other necessary and recommended component replacement. I try and DIY all of my repairs (including timing belt). Could be worth it to call them up and get a quote for the complete job. Just google them for the number and read some reviews from other customers if there are any posted. Good luck

I was quoted around $1000 to do it from Woodings Garage. I was looking for a new mechanic for my Audi and my brother who has a VW recommended them. They only work on VW and Audi's. I came in there because my mechanic does not have the cpu to reset the Service light on the car and they did it for me for FREE, which was nice of them.

    Check them out here: http://www.woodingsgarage.com/
