Having fuel cuts / sputtering in the upper RPM range on your modified 2.0T FSI? The stock high pressure rail pump is most likely the culprit. Modification of the 2.0T FSI engine far beyond OEM power levels requires an additional volume of high-pressure fuel especially in the midrange (3000-5000rpm) of the powerband. To understand why this fuel is needed for the midrange, one must first understand how the fuel delivery system works in the 2.0T FSI.. Read more.
Note: This is the "rebuild" version of the APR FSI high pressure fuel pump. It receives the same internal rebuild parts and undergoes the same testing as the new pump, the only difference is this is built off a used pump opposed to a new pump.
USP Motorsports Rebuild Program: Normally by doing the rebuild program through APR, you will have to send in your pump for it to be modified, causing your vehicle to be down potentially for weeks! However, USP Motorsports has rebuilt pumps ready to ship for NO DOWN TIME! By purchasing this APR FSI rebuild pump through USP Motorsports, you will receive a rebuilt high pressure fuel pump with a shipping return label for your old pump. You will also be charged a core fee of $450. Once you install the rebuilt pump and send back your stock pump in WORKING CONDITION (tested by APR), you will be refunded the full $450 core charge.
Cliff notes of USP rebuild program:
1. Purchase pump here (w/ $450 core charge)
2. Install rebuild pump on vehicle
3. Put stock pump back in box (PACKAGE IT WELL!!)
4. Put shipping label on box that USP will supply you with, give to UPS (big brown truck).
5. Once APR tests your stock pump and confirms it is good, USP will refund your core charge in full.
Price: $649 plus $450 refundable core charge (plus shipping)
1. Is it significantly lower price than the new hpfpupgrade pump?
2. Is it better quality or build than the hpfpupgrade pump?
1. If you click on the link, it says $649 plus a $450 core charge (that you get back). A brand new complete HPFP from HPFPUG is $695 + a free cam follower. Not sure if they will do a rebuild for a used pump, but they run $495
2. You'll have to make that assessment on your own. But if you search this forum, I think you'll find, lately that people are preferring the HPFPUG's pumps. There is tons of info out there.
So basically the APR stuff is 80% more expensive for what would appear to be an inferior product. PASS!

Guys, this has the same parts as the APR brand new pumps, they are just built off a used pump instead of a brand new. The brand new pumps are not completely manufacturered by APR, it is a stock VW pump that is modified. So technically they are all "rebuilt". APR has the resources for precision machined parts and bench testing of every pump assembled before it goes out.

Inferior product? Please elaborate... has anyone else used their pumps in competition road racing for hours of demand without failure?? http://www.goapr.com/products/fsi_fuel_pump.html, scroll down and have a quick read.
And where do you get 80% more expensive? The other pump mentioned in this thread is $695 (with a free cam follower).. if you want a free cam follower with this APR pump at $695, it can be arranged.
^ It's pretty simple math actually. HPFP gives you a brand new modified pump for $695. If you want a brand new modified pump from APR you will be forced to pay $450 additional over the 695. $450/$695 = 65% more, if you're rather look at it differently, to get a brand new HPFP out of the deal, the HPFPupgrade package would cost 58% as much as the comparable (new pump included) product from APR (excuse the hell out of me for saying 80%). As far as I'm concerned the stage I pump is exactly the same as the APR pump and there is data that supports my theories. The stage II pump flows MORE than the APR pump and it is still only 66% as much as an APR pump when you include the new pump. John knows his stuff. I work as an fueling systems quality engineer in the diesel industry. There is absolutely nothing that I have seen that doesn't support my theories of the stage II pump from HPFPupgrade to be the BEST HPFP on the market. Pair that with the fact that it's only 66% of the cost of the APR deal, it's very apparent that you have a grossly overpriced product.

^ Excuse me as I see the APR pump is now $649. IF you want the new pump to be included, it's still grossly overpriced compared to anything from HPFPUP. If anything, it might not even be as good.

The other pump in this thread is also bench tested. Am I the only one that's failing to see the "value" in the additional costs of the APR unit?

^LOL. I actually have a small one on my car. I think it will improve the resale of my car someday.

Flowing more then the APR is pointless.. the car doesn't need anymore fuel then that. But thanks for your argument, I guess you won't be purchasing an APR fuel pump.. and your excused for over exaggerating the percentage difference. Me, I prefer proven parts.. http://www.aprmotorsport.com/. Also.. out of curiosity, do they have any NEW pumps available? My guess is no since they are on national back order. So, this seems to be the only option.
Goddamn. This forum gets fucking ridiculous with the bashing lately.
Until two months ago apr was the only pump anybody here recommended. Now that hpfp upgrade is the new kid in town its apparently time to jump on that bandwagon. Both make great products. Apr is tried and true, high quality stuff that works over and over again. That justifies the price. Hpfp upgrade is taking our fueling to the next level but has no track record or real world testing to really back up the claims. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase either pump but the new idea that apr is overpriced junk is absurd.

Guys I appreciate the support and APR has set the standard for all fuel company's to rise up and meet the challenge. This thread is not about us, its about USP Motorsports selling a great product.
Jeff, keep up the good work and remember that competition benefits everyone.
Thanks,
