    REVO Tuning

I recently said goodbye to my 2004 A4 1.8T which had some nice custom mods. The good news for me is I replaced it with a 2012 A4 Prestige 2.0T with S-line exterior. I am interested in having it REVO'd like the 04' and I'm wondering if this is still a good way to go as a first modification step. I have been informed by Revoteknic that my SPS3 from my last car won't work but they didn't answer if Audi could tell if the car had been Revo'd if the stock program was re-installed before going to the dealer for any service. Does anyone know the answer to this question? I'd rather not have to wait until the warantee expires to unleash a little more power and lose the 130mph speed limiter.

I went with APR. You can get 4 programs (stock, 93, 100, vallet) and also lock it so the dealer can't tell. During March they will normally have a sale to get all 4 programs for $599 which is a savings of $400+.
I don't know Revo enough to know the differences, but it is pretty close to the APR and only off by a couple HP and Torque which could easily be differences in dynos and dyno conditions

I just put mine back to stock before I go to the dealer and they never say anything. I love my REVO tune and I'm making 260hp/320tq on 91octane. I bought my SPS with my tune for a total of $500, I think it's $400 for one program.

Strange how over their Revo and APR have similar figures but in the UK, there a bit of discussion on a forum about claims of 305bhp from a stage 1 Revo remap !

Don't all laugh at once ;)

That is the figure on race gas in the UK. A proper tune that accommodates for the race gas will allow you to make more power. My REVO tune on 91 octane made 260hp and 320 tq

How do you define "race gas" ?

You figure sounds about right to me. I'm struggling to see how you get 300+ out of it just by using high octane fuel.

I was told that it was the highest octane available in the UK. I guess it's higher than 100 octane here in the states.

Well there commonly available Shell V-power and Tesco both at 99RON. We used to have a few outlets selling BP 102 but that was a silly price and only near race tracks.

99 RON is used by a huge number of people and often just to get better mpg. I can't see that changing from 95RON to 99RON (and the associated map change of course) is going to magically give 45 more bhp. We're waiting for dynos etc and I could well be proved wrong but if it's true then why can't anyone else get this from the 2.0TFSI?

Other vendors might work on the philosophy that a little less numbers for bragging rights leads to much better engine longevity

I'd agree and support that. My previous maps have not had the head line figures but have been more usable voer wider ranges.

However we're not talking about little less numbers. We comparing 260ish to 300 ish.

APR advertises on it's site 230 HP and 333 TQ. I have that on my car and on the dyno I am making 206 HP and 282 TQ (makes sense for drivetrain loss) which is why I am asking if those 260/320 numbers are crank or wheel numbers. If they are wheel that is amazing for a stage 1 tune. If they are crank, then the torque is the low end of APR, Stasis, GIAC, and REVO and the HP is the high end, but that all can be due to differences in dyno, conditions at test time, etc.

Has anyone on here done a MTM tune on the b8 their making more up but less torque? I'm more interested with them than anyone else.

Crank #'s, I wish they were to the wheels. My opinion doesn't really count because I haven't driven an APR B8A4. BTW my software was updated by the dealership for the oil consumption test and REVO doesn't have anything for the latest 2012 software, which is why I've been without a tune for a while.

Stubek, I only dynoed my car on 91octane so I'm not sure what REVO makes on 93.
