Anyone picking up the RS5?

Im thinking about putting a deposit on the new RS5 set to arrive this fall as a DD. Your thoughts and comments? Keep in mind ive already owned the S5. A bit redundant perhaps?

The first thing that comes to my mind is the whole no manual transmission thing...but other than that, i'm sure it'd be excellent.

Have fleeting thoughts of it now and again. Will have to see it in the flesh, see what the MSRP is and most importantly, see if I can test drive one because the S-Tronic in the A3 loaner I had was terrible.

I'm not sure that they have confirmed that they are not brining it to North America yet. As far as I know it's still unknown since no official release has been made, but I'm not holding my breath.

+1, although unlikely there has been no confirmation that the new RS4 Avant isn't coming to NA.

fwiw, i did talk to somebody from audi canada at the audi driving experience here in toronto, i can't remember his name or his exact role but if I recall, he did have something to do with product planning for the a4. I did ask him about the possibility of an RS4 coming, he said no. The RS cars this time around are focused only one thing: two doors. And that's the TT-RS that we have today and the RS5 which is coming. Of course, it hasn't been officially announced but pretty certain that it is coming.

I've been back and forth between a TT-RS or P car as a fun third vehicle (and obviously they would out perform and RS4 so let's not start any discussions there) but I'd rather have an avant with a V8 (FI would be tits but NA is just fine) as my family mobile.

Just have to keep faith and have already been holding on to my pennies.

But back to topic, if a 2-door is good for you as a DD then I say yes. I think the A5/S5/RS5 body lines good fantastic. Yes there may be other cars for that price you could get but let's be honest, most of the time the cars we drive aren't always pushed to their limits as much as we think they do and sometimes not ever.

But I wouldn't say no to a used R8 if I could but booster seats don't fit and haven't found any dealer that takes kids as trade in.

I believe there's only a 0.1% chance the RS4 is coming over here and that's only because there's been no official word yet. I hope I'm wrong but I seriously doubt it...NA just doesn't like wagons enough.

It's official talked to a director of human resources at the Finance of Audi and he said they're definitely not coming here :(

OP - The RS5 in white looks amazing from those photos. I feel like it may be a step backwards for you. I'll try to crush it at work this year and pick one up. Then we can swap whenever you like! :)

Thought about this after the M3 was gone, dismissed it quickly due to the lack of manual option..and quite frankly, the lack luster performance figures. Considering this would be priced fairly close to used 997.1 or even 997.2 Turbo..this idea never came back. It is a nice car, I'll give it that...

if the RS5 looked different than the S5 maybe. I liked the wide fenders of the RS4 and lower offset wheels etc.. The RS5 to me doesn't have the visual features the RS should have.

From the examples I saw in Europe seems the car needs some color to show off the boxed fenders.. black or white and they seemed to look like a regular S5. Colors ormetallic paint showed it off the best. I think the car is pretty cool to look at, but it's not really standout performer, never seemed to blow anyone away in the reviews, that said if you already have an R8 to thrill you, this car might be the perfect DD.
