Just got a 15 over speeding ticket today. THis makes it my 3rd minor ticket in just under 2 years. Expecting to buy and register a new car. The other 2 tickets were a disobey sign (rolled through a stop sign, reduced to disobey a sign) and another 15 over.

What should I expect from my insurance company ?

Definitely bend over. Third ticket increases premiums from 15-50%. Fortunately you won't see it until your renewal is up so you have time to lube up. Ideally, some of your tickets will expire before the renewal date and you will only have 1 or 2 tickets. If not, fight the ticket to push the conviction date back as much as possible....

^ Sorry for semi hijacking thread...
I got 2 tickets the other day, one for passing when not clear (something like that) and one for not showing the proper permit (only had 1-sided copy). Going to request trial, I am wondering if the permit ticket even affects insurance at all (since it isn't a moving offense)? I only have one other ticket that is long off the record, so how much will it affect my insurance as a first minor offense?
OP, there's a site called fightyourtickets.ca that will give you the step by step details on what to do. I read through it in anticipation and it should be of use to you. For you, I think it is definitely worth fighting since I think 3 minor makes you a high risk driver.

If you guys ever require a traffic lawyer for representation, contact Opta Legal services and ask for Joe Arcuri @ 905 856 8410. Hes been representing my buddies and i for at least 10 years. He got me off a couple of careless driving tickets, few speeding tickets, unsafe lane changes, and a ticket for doing a wheelie on Richmond
At worst, he gets me off with a fine and 0 points.
Only moving violations count toward insurance. Permits do not show up and do not affect premiums.
Another note: points mean nothing (unless you have lots accumulated, and if that's the case, drive better). Don't pay a lawyer to reduce your ticket, this does nothing for your premiums as being convicted of doing 1 km/h over or 49 km/h over. Only pay a lawyer if he remove the conviction, otherwise just showing up is usually enough to reduce the fine and points.

Actually reducing the kms over can have a positive impact on insurance as a major offence (30+ kms over) is considered far worse than a minor one ...
Thanks for the replies guys. For the record, yes I fight everything. I at least look for a reduction but my experiece with hiring people to fight for me has been useless. They usually sell you the fact of reducing the charge. I always request evidence. I've had a string of bad luck, (I know everyone says this). I never get tickets in my pleasure vehicles but rather my piece of crap daily drivers and always within 2km of my house. I guess I'll push my court date till the expiry of my first ticket.

Major offense is 49+ not 30+. Insurance only looks at type and number of minor convictions, not the amount over. Any conviction from 1-49 is a minor conviction.
