    Starting question. Delayed

3 Days ago my Car Died in the middle of the Road on the way to work. It would crank but no Go. So I was stuck in a bad spot and I ended up calling AAA. I knew it was the Fuel pump but I did not have time to replace it so I had it towed to a local mechanic. After 1 Day they confirmed that it was the Fuel pump so I told them to go ahead and replace it. After $600.. Ouchhhhhhh The Car Starts and I drove home again. Normaly I change my own parts but this was one of hose situations.

However, Now after 2 Days when I let the Car Sit in the cold for a couple of hours, It takes the Car 4 to 6 Cranks before it gets going. They changed the Fuel Filter and Fuel Pump and I have no Codes. So, has anyone any suggestions on what could be the cause of this Delayed start. It is almost like it takes a while for Pressure to built. I don't have a Gauge and I don't know where to check the fuel pressure on this. I don't think it is my battery either.

Any suggestions, I would appriciate it. I don't want to take the car back to the mechanic yet.

Do you hear it prime for a second when you turn the key?

It sounds like your coolant temp sensor is starting to go bad and flooding the engine a bit. It wont throw a code, but that's where I would start.

try a new fuel pressure regulator. that is where the check valve is located that keeps line pressure in the rail to assist in quick starting.

most guys who've upgraded have a stock one lying around.
