I just came from a B5 S4 in my current B7 and am getting used to visiting the gas station more often.
Curious on how many KM's are B8 S4 owners getting on a tank of gas? City/Hwy?
The B7 and B8 have almost the same tank size (63 and 64L respectively).
Thx

Not seeing much disparity between different gas stations, although I haven't really been keeping track too closely.
Supposedly Shell has no Ethanol and thus will provide better mileage. I normally use Petro-Canada but will attempt to switch back and forth to see if there is any truth to that. (Petro-Canada has the Ultra 94 which I would probably run with the ECU tune ...)

I drive mostly local (4km commute to work daily in slow slow traffic with stop signs). I get around 400km a tank. I am prone to occasionally floor it for no reason.
I have gotten more like when I made a trip to niagara.. mostly highway, even A/C off for some period of time (nice weather day) and that got me up to 500+.
I started using an android app called fuel log to keep track but it varies too much to help me much. I am trying to switch to Shell and see if it helps. Before that, I was mainly using Esso and Petro 94.

How do you guys measure tank mileage. From full tank until the light goes on?
What I do is fill up, reset the odo, run it to about 1/4 tank, fill up agian, recard the number of Litres used, divide that per 100km.
That's it - - km driven vs litres added to the tank. Will sometimes run to almost empty, other times fill up ahead of time to make sure I have fuel for the drive the next day. But as long as you record actual km and actual litres it doesn't really matter.

My only measured tank (so far!) was 475 km on about 55 L of fuel, or 11.6 L/100 km.
Commuting to work (~15 km, half highway, half streets) I probably get 12-14 L/100 km, based on adjusted trip computer readings. Your 10 L/100 km on the highway is actually quite good - what speed do you cruise at?

Maybe it is because of winter tires or I just drive too fast... I can never get 10L/100km on the highway. It's usually around 11...I also drive between 120-140. =\
I think a good real world number is around 12.5-13 L/100km on mixed driving. I get around 14L/100km.

The speed makes all the difference - air resistance increases with the square of the velocity, so at 130 km/h you're probably using 30-35% more fuel than at 110 km/h. (I, too, cruise at around 130 km/h, and it's pretty hard getting 10 L/100 km at a steady 130 km/h based on the trip computer.)

APR tune is supposed to improve fuel efficiency. =)
Except you end up pushing down on the loud pedal more often to take advantage of the aftermarket tunes :) Speaking about APR, they released a newer version of their program for the S4... more powah!

When its out for sure my ECU will be in the mail. Had a chance to be a beta tester for the v2 but I wasn't down for that. Should be available for the masses next Monday.
I'm going from APR Stage 1 (91 octane) to Stage 2+ with the ECMS program switching and the version 2 software.
The care is already super quick with the 91, with pulley and the advancements with the v2, it should be crazy.

Nothing against Revo or GIAC as such, but the APR v2 power is plenty for me, and I trust them to do the programming right. And I'll be able to take the car to H2Sport to get it installed, so that's another plus for me.

I think it will be several months if not more until we see onsite flashing for ECU's. You're far more patient than I was!!!!!!!
For what its worth my car was only down from 3pm on a Monday afternoon until 10am on Wednesday all in when I sent it down to Alabama. Pretty damn efficient.
Do you know if the onsite flash thats coming and the tools they have made for their dealers still require the ECU still be cracked open and modified, I am pretty sure that's what is being done down at APR as you can see the marks on the outside of the component, I felt confident that they were well versed in this procedure. Flashing via a OBD port is one thing, prying open the cars brain and working on the board is another all together!!!!!!!

Yes, the ECU still needs to be opened, only in this case APR provides the (APR) dealer with the tools and training - so I'd really want a dealer I can trust to open my ECU.

That was during the summer, all hwy crusing at 120km all the way to Belleville. Just to clarify it was more like 10.5L/100km. I would imagine that winter mileage would be much worst.
knew that temperature affects mileage, and geeked out yesterday and graphed my 2.0T mileage (L/100km) with the daily weather from the toronto airport...

Agree - just got 529 kms with another 10 left per trip computer averaging 89km/h to Hamilton. Had guests in the car and stuck to 110 on the highway - huge difference.

Can't imagine driving a 4.2L V8 right now :)
I will assume your AC was on during the summer and therefore attributed to higher avgs. You will have to take it for the team and leave your Ac off this summer inorder to support your hypothesis.
And to get the thread back on track, last fill-up was 492 km (11.3 L/100 km). Not as good as Tanner's 2.0T, but very reasonable and for sure a lot better than the V8.

Test drove the S4 a while back, seeing similar consumption on the highway, at about 10L/100km. Comes in between the 4.2L and the 2.0T, not bad for the torque/power of that engine.
I have an app on my BB that I have been track my mileage for the last 10,000km
I'm currently averaging 12.7L/100km
My best was 10.2L/100km 90% Hwy
Worst was 14.9L/100km I's say 50-50 Hwy-city. But I had just gotten the APR stage II ECU tune and pulley. So I was having fun! :D
I've always had 94 octane from day one and I'm tuned. I also find my mileage is a bit worse in this cold weather right now.

I'm getting about 440, sometimes a bit less, 50/50. I'm usually on the highway, but I have to drive past 404/DVP everyday...
Best tank ever - 520, all highway.
Worst tank ever - 390.

557 km on my tank today, MMI showing 20 km left. Two trips from Kitchener to Yonge/401 and back made up 80% of the distance, cruising at 130 km/h or somewhat less, depending on what the traffic allowed.
Incidentally, it's amazing how big the difference is in the two directions: Toronto-Kitchener will easily use 1.5L more than Kitchener-Toronto. It's not a big elevation change but it's enough to make a difference ...
