Hello all. New to the forum and I want to make my B6 sound like a B5 with twin turbos. (Just kidding. And now that you're here...)

I'm the proud owner of an 04 B6 6MT S4 Avant. I'm one of those audio guys, and started looking for an S4 after earthtodan posted his build log at mobilesoundscience.com. Picked it up from the assholes at Schaumburg Audi. Love driving it. Not sure I love the quirks, but I ain't getting rid of it any time soon :) For any future S4 noobs, here's a few of my experiences since purchasing the car:

    • The warning buzzer shouts at me all the time. It's a headlight leveling issue that I haven't gotten around to addressing yet. They're up and down like an oompa-loompa. Goes away, comes back. Rinse. Repeat.
    • The timing chain rattle at startup is obnoxious and I'll never get used to it. It makes a good low-oil level indicator though.
    • My car has 45k on it and the previous owner already put a clutch in it. I tried a clutch-drop launch in the car ONCE. It was uneventful, except for the burnt clutch smell and watching the tach fly up to 7k.
    • Yes, oil changes from the dealer really are $100+. But they vacuum your car after washing it!
    • I don't know if the rear-door sag is related to the extensive body-work my car has had, or if it's a naturally occurring phenomenon on this model.
    • I've never had a n/a car that loved cold air as much as this one.
    • It's a blast. Understeers while under power in the corners, which should keep most of us non-professionals ON the road.

Glad to be here. And I hope to learn a lot from the wise old men here. I live in the Livonia area of metro Detroit, so feel free to throw me a rev if you see me granny shifting around town (all stock silver Avant).

    Rick

Welcome 45K on my S4 also. Very low for a car that is 8 years old! Something is up with the new clutch.
Should not do that my original has had a 4K drop with no issues. Lots of good info on Audizine.

Welcome Rick. Anytime you're thinking of upgrading your ride feel free to post asking questions. There's a lot of knowledge in these forums that will help put you on the right track(I did this). The search tool is also nice for looking up possible fixes for issues that come up.

Post some pics when you get a chance!

I'm in Northwood every few weeks. Hate my gas bill on those weeks.

    Hi!

Anyone have problems with their doors not draining water? Every time it rains and I open my passenger door I get a mini typhoons' worth of water on my shoes. The kind of situation that can ruin a day. I have some ideas for what the cause might be, but thought I'd ask before I tear into it.
