    Starter kit for washing car

I'm picking up a car this Saturday from a dealer that is 600 miles away. What are the essentials that i need to wash all the junk off when i get home. I asked the dealer not to wash the car. So far i have microfiber towels, separate buckets but that's it.

A good wash mit with some deep pile and a waffleweave drying towel is what comes to my mind.

A good wash mitt, waffleweave towels (2 or 3 good sized), grit guard, good soap and wax.
You do plan on waxing it, right?

For mitts I really like the Lake Country Ulti-mitt. Bunch of the vendors sell it for around $15. It's a soft foam wash mit with a waffle cut to it. Holds tons of soap and less likely to scratch if you rinse/spray it out frequently. Pulls the dirt into the foam instead of sitting on the surface. Still have to watch for larger grit though.
I've tried all kinds and this one is my favorite. Not quite as soft as the high end lambs wool but those things are nasty to maintain.
For soap my favorites are Optimum Car wash and Optimum No Rinse. I use a bit of the No Rinse with the regular wash to help prevent water spots. The No Rinse also helps when you're drying. Mix it at quick detailer dilution and spritz that on right before you dry.

For a new car you might also want to clay after you wash it. Could be lots of road grit. My car was pretty bad before I clayed it.

You'll also want to wax/seal to protect the finish. Tons of options depending on what type of protection and how often you want to apply it.

Lots more you can add to your arsenal later but I'd say those items are the most critical.
