i'm about to order a cat back milted for my 2008 3.2 quattro roadster, ;6 speed. wondering if anyone has experience with this system. i was also told there is no intake modification available other then dropping in a replacement k & N.
I don't have any direct experience, however I've been researching exhaust systems too for the 3.2 and I've read multiple posts on various forums regarding the Milltek resonated catback as being marginally louder than stock. Some have said it was barely noticeable over the stock system. Not something I'd feel good about considering the price. I've been giving the Magnaflow touring series a hard look lately and might pull the trigger soon.
The resonated version is slightly louder then stock. The non resonated version removes the front resonator with a straight pipe. We also sell the pieces seperately so if you wanted to convert from a resonated to non resonated you just have to purchase the extra pipe.
Milltek produces a much better exhaust then Magnaflow. Milltek uses T304 stainless steel where most Magnaflow systems are made out of T409 stainless which can rust out over time, plus the sound of the Milltek non resonated system is awesome!
I have Milltek non resonated for my 09 3.2 TT and I love the sound, specially when it warms up. Also, I have the Modshak intake and it sounds very good!!!
Get it non-resonated! I don't have drone sound inside. It's quiet at idle, but it turns into a beast when you step on it. Also, very nice looking exhaust and fits perfect!!! The quality is top of the line...You get what you paid for!
You can get a Magnaflow catback for under $500 shipped.
Yeah maybe if it is used!
If you want a cheap system get the Magnaflow. They use T409 stainless which will rust over time but Milltek uses T304 stainless which will not rust. Plus the sound of the Milltek system is much more refined.
I don't understand why people will buy such a nice car like the TT and then put a cheap Magnaflow exhaust on?

Nope, 100% brand new in the box exhausts, under $500 shipped.
Cars rust, the stock exhaust will rust, I don't care if the replacement system does too.
It comes down to if you have the money. Milltek is by far a better quality exhaust. Its up to you if you want to buy a lower quality exhaust. Would it work? Yes! Is it better than a Milltek exhaust? No! You decide.

sorry if im ruining your sale but youre looking pretty bad yourself calling us cheap for putting a magnaflow exhaust on our cars, better check your conduct on here before you start losing customers. So rust issues - 6 months on and not a single sign of rust. 12foott, youre pretty local to me, come up north and ill be more than happy to lift up the car for you and let you hear the exhaust first hand. unfortunately im on my phone but later on i will post some links to Milltek owners having issues with the milltek exhaust fitment. Why pay $1200 for a name brand exhaust when the damn thing doesnt fit right?
I agree on all points, it's not just about the money. I have money. It's about value, fitment and sound.
However, it is my fault for derailing the thread. The OP was only asking about the Milltek and I got the discussion going on Magnaflow.
no worries, nothing negative was in your direction. as enthusiasts i feel that we should give our opinions/suggestions and let the OP decide which direction he wants to follow. 12foott, if youre interested in the Magnaflow system, check out Peformance Peddler, if i recall correctly, mine was ~$480 to my doorstep.
as for the links that i promised earlier about Milltek- here are a few:
Sorry if I offended anyone with my post above, that was not the intention. We sell Magnaflow exhaust as well but don't list it on our website. They do produce a good exhaust system but my beef with them is that they advertise their systems as "stainless steel" which most people think of as being T304 stainless when in fact they use T409 stainless which is a lower grade of stainless.
thank you for all the good feedback. probably going milltek, but can't decide resonated or non. was going resonated but having second thoughts.
Personally I like the non res version on the TT 3.2L. But the nice thing about Milltek is that we purchase the pieces seperately so if you purchase the non res system and find it to loud you can purchase the resonated pipe to convert the system to the resonated version!
i've decided to go with the milltek cat back non resonated. My audi dealer is doing it for the same $ as some local tuners..Good to give the dealer some business.
My Milltek non res cat back was finally installed today.
also changed the intake filter to K & N. Sounds Fantastic, seems to rev smoother and higher.
Going to take it down to the beach Sunday .
will advise
This is in idle quiet, but open it to strengthen it to the beast. In addition, very nice exhaust, suitable for perfect! ! The quality is top of the line!
