Christmas time Honesty - Bad experience with UNSLANTED

Okay, so a few weeks ago I decided I was going to sell my Pioneer Avic-f700, my JL13w7 and my KickerZX1500.1.
The plan was to go oem RNS-E , I sold the AVIC for $500 and the Kicker amp for $350. This left me with $850.
I started searching the classifieds, I found two units that interested me in my price range.
One was a Euro - RNS-E and one was N/A version.
I Decided that I was going to go with the N/A Version, I asked the seller to send me detailed pictures.

he sends me this along with a few others ( big picture )


he assures me everything works and all the necessary connectors will come with it.
I asked him why he was selling and he said that It was to help pay for his parts car which came with a new rns-e.

So i sent the money on december 16th. We had agreed on 750+30 shipping. $780
a day later, I get a PM saying that he only received $700 after currency conversion and paypal fee's.
I was about to accept a refund and pay with a different service,
however before I got the opportunity he said "its Christmas dont worry about it, i just got out of a speeding ticket and I'm in a good mood, I'll just go ship it anyways"
So, feeling the chirstmas cheer, I decided to paypal him an extra 30 since that was what the paypal fee's were.
so far I've sent him $810

Yesterday I received my unit,
It is in GARBAGE condition, Looked nothing like the pictures, the screen looks as if he thought it was a touch screen- or he had a dog try to operate it with its nose.
The CD/SD button is PAINTED BLACK WITH PLASTI DIP! ALONG WITH THE RETURN BUTTON.
each slot where you insert the deck removal pins is thrashed and looking heavily used.
THE GPS antenna is made in china.
He promised that the radio CODE for the unit is in the manual which he sent, IT IS NO WHERE TO BE FOUND.
This is the condition of the unit I just paid over $800 for.

furious, I contacted him.

He tried to explain that the scratches on the screen are normal and every unit has them,
He then went on with some huge Bullshit story about how he nicked the button while packaging the unit in a busy UPS store explaining about children crying and mothers yelling (none of which relevent to my issue)
He assured me that the code was in fact with the unit,(it was not) and then told me he knew it off by heart.

All in all, Dont trust people on the internet, Even if its during christmas and they seem like they are being nice.
Currently in a huge debate with the seller and paypal. Trying to send the unit back for a full refund.
everytime i find faith in humanity again some asshole just has to go and fuck it up.
sellers name is UNSLANTED i wouldn't recommend buying ANYTHING off him.

that's fuckin bs and I know exactly what you mean, people suck and you can't trust anyone.

I feel like he used your money to buy his parts car and sold you the worse of the two RNS-E's once he picked it up. We should break him.

Same here. Bought a Symphony II+ recently, from a member, assured working "flawless condition".
I get it and while it does look good, it's been opened up, warranty sticker is broken, and a couple screws in the housing were still loose from when it was dismantled. CD changer doesn't work. Paypal claim filed instantly.
So I contact ANOTHER member about a different S2+ unit, he has no code- so GUESS WHAT I DO!? I get the fucking code for him so he can test it and make sure it works.
After a week or so of bullshit he says he cant test it and wont sell it to me.
MOST of the members here are pretty great, a couple are scum, and to be fair some of the decent ones just don't use their best judgement many days.
It's the chance you take.

That's a terrible Christmas story. My RNS-E came with scratches on the anti glare screen, but I researched that you can buff off the coating with Plastix (leaves a tiny little residue in the corners, but looks new). The button covered with Plastidip is BS. Who remembers to carry platidip in their pocket when they go to the UPS store. That really sucks... I know from a sellers standpoint I worry things get to people the way they are shipped; this is definitely not the case. Hopefully the dispute helps resolve the issue.

same thing happened to me when I bought my first set of OEM bi-xenon's from a member here. They came in less than the advertised 'excellent' condition and one housing had a broken adjuster screw. Paypal dispute helped save me from that mishap.

Luckily I was able to source another set of housings from evo_ski on here who presented me with the best used part buying experience I've ever had.....before/during/after the sale.

To the poster, file a PayPal dispute - get your money back and check out boraparts.com for a new unit.

for some reason I decided to install it to see if it even functioned properly, and .... low and behold. it doesnt.

this is what happens when i turn it on.



then I press the NAV button and this happens



then I press the eject button to remove the NAV CD
and the unit get stuck like this and stops responding.


finally after driving an hour with no music and the rns-e stuck like that I gathered some courage and gave it a light nudge and it went back in.

If the NAV DVD is a copy, they warp over time. The RNS-E runs pretty hot. You best bet is to buy a new NAVTEC DVD from dealer or direct from NAVTEC

in the middle of the paypal claim, cost me $45 to ship it back to him. can i count this money as a loss or is there any way of being reimbursed
