03 B6 satellite radio retrofit question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Okay, so I've been searching for how to retrofit a satellite radio into my 03. I am under the understanding that my model year didn't come with satellite option. So I assume that in order to keep everyone looking stock, I would have to buy all of my parts.

My main issue is that I am getting a DICE Duo kit. If I bought an aftermarket satellite receiver, mounting another receiver to the console would make things look too cluttered; and I hate things floating on my windshield. Also, I want everything look as stock as possible.

My question is what parts do I need.

    At a minimum, I think I need:

XM/Sirius satellite receiver (found Sirius tuner at ECS for about $40)
    Sat headunit
Sharkfin/Submarine antenna (no idea where to look)

install requirements alone, the parts list is my first concern. However, when doing my research, most require you to remove the "cubby" on the left side of the trunk. This is interesting to me because I don't have a cubby like others:

    My current headunit:

Dumber question: If I just by the SAT version of the above headunit with the DICE version of the ipod interface, I should have no problems...right?

Any help in this is greatly appreciated. TIA

I feel your pain. I have a 03 as well have have been dying to find a way to do this. I'll be following this one. I believe that you will need to get the new headunit as well. They had the unit for $39 but it still doesnt have the SAT option either. I would look into the Symphony II+ or Concert III. You get the newer headunit look plus your SAT option. Just need to make sure you get the AM/FM radio anntena working correctly.

You need either the '04 Symphony II HU with the SAT button, or, better the Symphony II+ HU from a B7. Then, using a OEM SAT receiver box, and a custom wiring harness, mount the SAT receiver forward of the glove box or inside the glove box in the upper left compartment. You can use a Sirius/XM mini antenna mounted on the roof, with the cable run to the SAT receiver box. This is the setup I am using. It works perfect and operates and looks stock.

Interestingly enough... I have an 03 that has a Sirius radio antenna. Haven't tested its functionality...

Well looks like there's no SAT button on the Symphony II. But here's a pic of it anyway(I know its peeling like crazy, I pulled it out and swapped it with a newer Symphony II)

Here's a few pics of the antenna:

The PO of your car probably installed an aftermarket Sirius reciever in your car. That antenna is not OEM.
