It all started a few years ago when my father bought a silver ’98.5 1.8TQ Tiptronic. It was chipped and I thought it was an amazing car. Around the same time, I picked up a ’99.0 1.8TQ Tiptronic because I thought the “clutchless manual” was the greatest thing ever.
I never really “liked” that car. It was reliable but after a few months of owning it, the previous’ owners negligence hit me – low oil pressure light. I got that fixed, and never saw the car the same. I didn’t think the car was reliable anymore.
One day while warming up my car, I started browsing CL. I saw a ’99.5 1.8TQMS in Volcano Black (my favorite color)! I send him an email and completely forget about it till I got home. While eating dinner I received a phone call. We scheduled to meet for the next day since it had gotten late. While talking with the seller, my mom urged me to ask him to meet me that night since I would have class most of the day the day after. An hour later, the car was in my driveway. I fell in love with it – major upgrade from my previous car. It was a one owner car, always had synthetic oil changes, and had a folder of receipts. The previous owner had been an enthusiast but didn't frequent Audiworld anymore.
I drove my tip car a few days and decided I should sell it. Posted it up, and sold it two days later to some kid that also loved the “clutchless manual.” I sold it for more than what I had bought my ’99.5 so I splurged buying parts. There was a GIAC flash the day after I sold my ’99.0. Then, I ordered coilovers. While having the coilovers installed at 2Bennett I was convinced to buy Valeo E-Codes (at a terribly high price).
Phases:
Stock with coilovers

Avus and roof rack (I eventually sold the rack since I only used it a few times a quarter)

“Winter” mode with 16” Five Spokes

Current mode (as of earlier today) with SSR Comps
I had been looking for wheels since I bought the car. Every set I had on there was a “temporary” set. When I found the SSR’s, I was ecstatic.
~ No pictures at the moment. Will take some tomorrow ~
Current Mods:
- GIAC Flash
- Stasis/Koni Streetsport Coilovers
- Forge 007 diverter valve
- Vented S4 liner
- RavenMS stud conversion kit
- 17” x 8.5” SSR Competions (Type C) in Falken 512’s.
Future plans:
- Maybe a GT2871R – don’t know when since there have been annual tuition increases at UC Davis.
- Touareg/Cayenne 330mm brakes to fill up my wheels.
- Maybe a ’96 “Euro” trunk.
- Some type of upgraded intercooler.
Thanks for reading my extremely long introduction! I feel like it's really cluttered.
