Question 3-zone climate control retrofit quesions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi guys

I would be very happy if anybody can help me with these questions, I want to retrofit the 3-zone climate control head unit as well as the sensors.

    1. Do I install the unit first then take it to dealership for them to remove the component protection?
    2. Where are the passenger and rear temp sensors located and maybe part numbers if you have them on hand?

    Thanks in advance!

Way to extensive a retrofit for real 3 zone. You need to change the duct as well. The best alternative would be to just add ducts to the rear of the car. Sensors are located in the vents. I'm not sure that the climate controls have protection on them. You may be able to just swap them.

Thanks David. If i just do the control head and vents without ducts eould it work without errors? Doing it mostly for cosmetic reasons, the 1 zone unit is pretty ugly!

I can't say for sure. I am thinking there may be an error for the actuator that's missing from within the vent. but..I honestly don't know for sure though.

You'll get a lot of errors because some sensors and actuators (3-zone has 10 actuators instead of 6 used in the 1-zone unit) are missing at all and some of the actuators available are wired wrong from the point of view of the 3-zone AC.
And no, the system won't work at all with all those errors being present:

Now I know for sure :)

I thought there might be. I had a quick look to see if there was a controller that would work with the single zone and there isn't. Wasn't sure if they used the dual zone design when you have heated seats but no luck.

Looks like a big retrofit or live with the current design..

Wow, thanks for the info guys. Helped me a lot, almost ordered the control unit, glad I didn't! Suppose more money left for other mods then! Would love colour DIS retrofit, but that sounds really expensive!
