Hey guys, I'm new to this site but have a huge passion for cars, especially Audis. I finally signed for my S5. Delivery is expected somewhere mid-february, and I'm now looking into some upgrades and mods to be done as soon as I take order.
Car being built for me is the following:
2012 Audi S5
Automatic
Prestige Package
Brilliant Black Exterior
Black Alcantara Interior with Carbon Fiber Inlays for Trim
When I went to order the car, this past Saturday (November 26th) Titanium Package was unavailable for order. My salesmen showed us the most updated version of their order sheets, and still it was indeed unavailable. I was told it was most likely a problem with the wheels. I asked for a possible special order through the factory, for just the trim, thinking that the wheels were most likely the problem with the package, but it would cause a few issues to have it done.
When I pick up my car, I'll be taking it to a respectable shop here on Long Island (NY), to have all my work done. As of now, heres what I'm interested in having done, and Im looking for advice on which manufactures are the best for the S5.
Mods as of now:
20% Tints
Tail Lights Tinted/Faded
Aftermarket Exhaust
Aftermarket Trim Black (Mirror Caps, Window Trim, Fog Lights, Grill)
Front/Rear Black Emblems
Other changes involving limiter*
[maybe later to be added to list: Ecu]
Anyone with advice on which parts I should order, just throw down a comment, It will be greatly appreciated. I made an account seeking the advice, opinions and help from you enthusiasts. I appreciate it a lot and thank you in advance.
Welcome and congrats. Sounds like you have a good handle on what your looking to do. If you have specific questions let us know. If they are not general/easy to search or stupid ones we will answer;)
Yea, definitely swapping out the silver trim to black. Factory wasn't letting orders come in with titanium package - dealer said there was most likely a problem with the wheels.
Where would be a good place to order all of these parts either OEM or Aftermarket? Im looking to have all the silver parts, that are usually black with titanium package, in black.
Other than the trim. I also mentioned a few other mods, such as an exhaust, ecu, and a few more things I'm still debating on.
I want to know in your guys opinion, what is definitely a must. Because when I take delivery, I plan on having all the done work at once. Will be much cheaper that way with the garage, and easier on me with timing. (Any parts I should be getting let me know)
I heard AWE Exhausts are the way to go. But I'm very new to these mods.(Welcome to any other opinions on what I should get) When it comes to Catbacks, Downpipe, Non resonated - Ill just need a brief explanation if thats not a problem.
ECU ill most likely get from the same company I'm buying the Exhaust from if they have there own program.
As for wheels. My car stock will have the S5 5 Segment wheels. Now the only problem I have with changing the wheels, yes, I want them black, however I live in new york and I feel most aftermarket wheels are very tight fitting, and dont leave too much room for rubber.
Has anyone had their stock 5 segment wheels powder coated black? If that isn't such a great idea, then Im welcome to all feedback on which wheels I should get. Looking for something definitely black, with no chrome or silver at all.
Later, Ill try and get maybe an exact budget to play with, but right now I'm thinking of $5k
swapping the window trim is going to cost quite a bit of money. Most people just wrap it. As for wheels the amount of rubber all depends on the wheel size. If you replace your stock 19s with aftermarket 19s than you can retain the same amount of sidewall. You will only have less if you jump to 20's. You can also add spacers to push your stock wheels out a bit more if you want to stick with those.
Also if you have drive select you should look at H&R OE springs for a mild but very good looking drop.
@Seph How much would you say wrapping the trim would cost? I really like the look of the RS4 wheels, any opinion on those? I'd want a set just like those, either aftermarket or not, but in black.
for exhaust, do u want ur car extremely loud and like a tank or something more subtle? if you want a loud monster, go for AWE track exhaust w/ AWE downpipes. for something more subtle, you can go for AWE touring, miltek or billyboat ( although there is fitment issues with them).
as seph said, getting window trim peices is quite costly. your better off either painting it at a shop or vinyl wrapping it.

To expand, yea the trim pieces total around a grand which is ridiculous. You need to take a look at "billythefish" on a5oc. He has 20" rs4 reps (not sure what label) in black and back window trim. He wrapped at first but did not like the result so went with the oem pieces. As for the Rs4's I like them alot. Have run three sets over time. Just be careful about the "ebay" or cheaper ones. Have heard bad things. May be able to pick up a used set of Hartmann/oem and re-spray them. As for tire size if you go with a 20x9 or 20x9.5 you can run a 255/35/20 which retains factory sidewall. Refer to my pics with the rs4's. I ran that size and honelty prefered the look of the beefier tire to what I have now and the ride was just as oem. As for oem 19's they look very nice is darker finishes (ecrew16's thread) and look plenty large if the car is lowered. And as Anthony said spacers really help the look. Trim cost, idk...materials would be cheap. Labor...maybe $200? Btw, check out the forgestar f-14. Very similar to the rs4's and come in many finishes. S5xy has a set I almost picked up in matte black...looks damn good. ^And bk's look great and you could keep your 19" rubber and they are priced nicely. Hope that helps/makes sense...was in a hurry.
Yea I'm set on Awe Touring with Diamond Black Tips with stock downpipes. The track edition, and/or downpipes unresonated will be way to loud.
But what is the best sounding cut-out exhaust. Thats where you have a button to open and close a flap to allow more or less air flow right?
Wow those wheels are sick. I'm interested in new sorry :/ but thanks for the offer. What wheels are those? Do they come in black?
@Mopsta - Wow 1k for just the trim around the windows? or is it all trim including fog lights, front grill, window, rear diffuser, and mirrors?
As of now, an AWE Touring is definitely what Im going with. But I'm still trying to find maybe a system with a cut-out. Always loved those, & my father has it on his Panamera.
Those wheels Bk has for sale are what I'm thinking towards. I love that style, personally, the deep lip wheels on an s5 don't look so great. Also would I need the wheel spacers? are they just to push the wheels out a bit, and will i need to do any trimming?
had them on my car for like 3 months? no curbage at all. but yes they do come in matte black matte gunmetal and matte bronze. black on black is so played out thats why i did something different. and yea they are called nurburgring.

wheel spacers are preference. the specs i got on the wheels are 19x9.5 et 41, which is very close to the stock specs. depending on how aggresive you want, 15front/20rears would do the trick. if your dropping and want an aggresive stance, u can do 20front/25rear. heres some more pics:

Bk's wheels are sweet, I am looking at VMR 710's which are the same design. If his wheels were gunmetal and 20's i'd have bought them in a heartbeat. Still contemplating 19's but i like the look of the 20s better
Wow, once again, your car is f'ing gorgeous. I think I'm going wheel shopping soon.
thanks for all the help btw guys, really appreciate it.
- Anyone have a pic of gunmetal Nurburgrings on a black s5?
- Any ideas on a electric cutout exhaust? I think I've seen one custom done on an awe exhaust, but are there any already made with the cutout?
Ogalt, no Sir...just the trim pieces. Just the grill, filler and fog trims ran me $600+. Spraying the rear valence and mirror caps will not cost too much if you went that route and pull them off yourself and take them to the shop. And yea, def wanna run spacers as bk and most do to get that stanced look. No trimming its just for asthetics.
Not sure about the spare Ant lol. Never really considered it. I just really liked the look and ride. And the diff is a hair under an inch more than stock diameter.
Well Ant, I guess you have been replaced by a newer fresher version. Sorry:( New Ant shall be anthony or seph. Prob need to run that thru HR...who the hell did I designate as HR???
@Mop - Wow thats ridiculous, ill have the window trim + mirror caps + rear valence painted for sure. And is it possible to also have the front bottom valence
painted as well? Im not sure but would they have to powder coat all of these parts? trying to get a gist of the price.
What do you mean by filler? Also with the front grill, does that come with the bottom end of the grill as well where the fog lights are located.
So sorry for all the questions, just want to make sure with people who have been through all this from start to finish.
Wow mop, just checked that link in your sig with your pics. Ive seen the pics when I started on a5oc, I thought it was the cleanest s5 on the site for sure! Well done.

It's pretty rare to have the nickname "Ant" actually. Most Anthony's i know either go by tony or full name. Usually when i tell people to call me Ant they look at me weird.
Yep, front splitter can be sprayed. Had mine done in matte black to match the grills. Can see in my pics. No powdercoating...stuff would melt when baked lol. Valence, splitter, mirror caps, and window trim could be done with a one stage paint (with clear mixed in or matte, however you prefer). Filler is the peice that snaps over the front plate mounting area. I am running a filler in pics with no euro plate and in the pics with europlate its removed to expose the cutout for mounting the plate. Front grill is one piece from hood to painted area above the splitter. The black fog trims/bezels are seperate purchase. Only like $35. Btw, contact Alex at europrice.us for these oem pieces like grill, fog trims, window trim or basically any other oem/euro part. Great dude, great service. And no prob! Got a name or do you prefer Ogalt?
Appreciate all this info, my shop will be painting and ordering my parts, there a good family friend of mine. Ill let them know of the site though for sure.
Haha yeah my name is Oren. And yours?
Im trying to find a price on the Nurburgrings new with tires. I just need help on sizing with the wheel, which tires and size, and which spacer. Then ill be set on the shoes for the 5
^haha, Bk been pushing those wheels hard...good buy for sure! I gotta get rid of that damn badge asap lol.
Thanks Oren, appreciate it. Name is Julian, Ben, or Mop. Whatever is cool haha. When you decide on the wheel and diameter we can help with the specs. bk's with the 15mm/20mm are perfect is you go nuburgring.
gotta hussleee yooo lol. i love my wheels, too bad i cant use them on my g sedan. reason why i wanna get rid of them is cause my gf said i cant get new wheels until i sell these so :/

Great, I want them to be installed as clean as possible. I think 19 TSW GunMetal Nurburgring will be a good choice. Do I need H&R OE Springs and which size spacers will I need? I want a setup that won't lower my car too much from stock, and still be able to ride as smooth as stock.
Painting of the parts will be very cheap for me, just called up and a "favor" is in place. Worse comes to worse ill have the stock 5segment 19s painted black.
Any pics of those on a 11' black s5?
H&R OE springs will give you a drop like Mops car. It's a pretty good look while still retaining drivability for the roads in the northeast. Spacers will depends on the offset of the wheels you go with
depending on the offset u get with the 19's. i believe 19x9.5 only came in ET 41, which u should get either 15f/20r or 20f/25r. if you get 19x8.5 i believe they have offsets in the mid 30's so mop can help u calculate what spacers u would need for that.
