Thanks Beaker. I gotta look into that. I do turn my car off when I know im a long red light as well.
I see a 2.0T A5 in your future. Anyone who turns his car off at red lights is surely very concerned about fuel economy. Just be glad that you don't have a long commute to work every day.

I change my mind about cars pretty often. I should have leased an S5. Right now I'm working on Leasing a C350 Coupe for 2years.
After that, I'll be looking at a used '13 S5 (3.0T), used '12 A6, used '12 A7.
'13 Audi S5 Daytona Gray - Maybe?
'10 Audi S5 Prestige Quartz Gray - Sold
'11 Audi A5 Daytona Gray - Canceled
I really do change my mind about cars often. Money down the drain I know, I haven't found the perfect car yet I guess. I'm curious on how the BRZ will look in person too.

I can hardly care about Audi buying back the vehicle or reimbursing me for gas. It's not an expense issue for me.
The issue is, the EPA ratings are inaccurate. They're misinforming people and my point is, IF you are experiencing the same thing, you should say something about it. If you are not experiencing the same thing, good for you.
IMO, The sticker on the EPA for a 6 Speed Manual should be 10 City (With a range of 8-12), 22 MPG Highway
Might only sound like 4mpg, but thats a 29% decrease from the listed MPG.
use premium and put it into the economy mode with the shift suggestions then follow them...
Here's a better suggestion: How about YOU read and respond to the threads that interest you instead of bitching about the threads that don't interest you? That way, the rest of us will be able to read and respond to the threads that interest us. Now isn't that easy and simple? Just because the OP has concerns about the fuel economy of his V8 doesn't mean it's not a valid subject to discuss. If you don't like it, stay out of the discussion instead of adding what amounts to a worthless post.
I never reset my trip 2 computer since i purchased the car and its says I'm averaging 19+ mpg, I have over 50K miles. If I only do short commutes less than 2 miles no highway I will only get 10mpg, I just noticed also if you are at a stop the mpg will start to go down like .4 mpg for a 30 sec or so stop light.
ps. the wife drive a Prius that has a lifetime average of 43mpg so together we average 30mpg : )
your prius MPG are lieing to you.....you actually get much less then your 43 mpg, and over the years as your battery slowly dies, your MPG will further decline....google it, you can now sue honda in small claims court and pick up your check for around 8K if you live in the same state.....god i love/hate the court system

I don't even have an audi....i just love me some 'zine

It has everything to do with how you drive the car. After getting horrible gas mileage, I went for an hour drive last week around town to see what kind of MPG figures i could really achieve. There were plenty of hills, stop signs, normal traffic, red lights, no highways, etc. Just normal driving on local suburban roads. I did second, even third gear starts whenever could, skipped gears (ie. 1-3-5, 2-3-6 or 2-4-6), stayed in 6th as much as possible, kept the RPMs below 2K, very easy on the throttle. I drove like an old lady in a lexus and was able to average 21 MPG during an hour of local driving. I bet most Tip owners wouldn't have been able to achieve that. Of course it's unrealistic to drive like that all the time but the moral of the story is..it really depends how you drive the car given your environment.

I feel for you manual guys. But just loaded gas yesterday on my S5 with all city driving and it was 19 MPG (124 miles using 6.5 gal). But I live in a city that does not have traffic like L.A. or NY. or DC.

Seriously?? You gonna file a complain because your S5 eats lots of gas?? Didn't you read the window sticker before you signed off?? Does 'Gas Guzzler tax' ring a bell?? You sound like you should have gotten a less thirsty vehicle. maybe a V6 3.2 or the 2.0T. I cruise around highways at around 22mpg and when driving hard I get about 9mpg but even if did 4mpg I wouldn't mind and I am far from rich or wealthy, it's a joy to drive, expensive yes but so does everything else life rewarding.
