    4.2L s-flo install

So I installed mine tonight. It is straight forward. The only tip I have for you all is when you disconnect the 2 hoses, one hose is very easy and the other requires some heavy pulling. There is a plastic tab around it and I couldn't figure out if you were supposed to lift the tab up with a flat head or just pull hard so I lifted it up and broke it apart and only 1/2 remained. Oops. When I went to reinstall it, even with 1/2 tab missing, it was very well secured onto the S-Flo tube. The tab is built for retention, but if you break it, it doesn't appear to be the end of the world. Also don't be like me and drop a torque screw head somewhere into the engine bay and not be able to find it.

Since it's only 8 hp to the wheel, I couldn't tell any difference. But I had to buy it.

Now if only JHM will release the s5 ECU from beta!

Well, I think I can feel something, but I can't tell for sure, so that means it must be negligible in real life. btw, you can't see the hoses in this picture; they are under the plastic cover.

    Nice...

On JHM releasing the tune, might be a minute. They test things VERY heavy before they release it to the public. Being part of the beta team for the b6 3.0 platform, I can tell you it takes patience. And alot of showed intrest. But in the end, their product is high above any others.

    Best of luck

Having an APR tune in my '11 S5 and having done some tuning on my corvette '07 Z06 with HPTuners and understanding how it works, what other parameters do you touch that an APR tune doesn't? just curious.

I am not affliated with JHM, just run some things for them and was first on the b6 3.0 platform.

However, from what I know, they touch over 200 items for their tunes. I cant speak for APR, but I do know JHM goes through a lot more then competitors. I as well have a corvette motor in a car, and spent hours with a tuner from GM. The audi formatting is so much more complex then that tho. :(

And from what I hear about the GIAC tune, might just want to save your money for a little while. IMO tho, you s5 guys know your cars alot better!

That it is more like your typical tune. Timing advance, pedal responese, etc.

edit: Post number two is kinda my point- http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ith-a-JHM-tune

JHM touches pretty much everything. I am by no means knocking anyone or any tune. I can just speak from seeing JHM work first hand on b6/b7 3.0, and 4.2 motors

Thanks. Where is JHM located? I'm not excited about sending the ECU in for a tune. I found a street tune was the best way to tune a car, under actual driving conditions. Log your driving and tune according to what the computer is saying. A tune can be affected by air density, humidity and altitude. Also, without some bolt-on's, you aren't going to get much I wouldn't think. But then again, the ECU as you mentioned sounds more complex than the GM ECU. For example, on the corvette, timing was pulled as much as 10* when the IAT was hot. You could change the amount of timing that was pulled and that had an affect in performance. Anyway, I thought you might be more involved with the actual parameters that they changed.

    Thanks!

For sure man. I hope the best for yoiu guys! Like to see all the N/A stuff out there.

JHM is in Lathrop, Ca. We had a guy on the 3.0 side from Miami send his ECU in, and 2.5 days later had it back!

odd, i noticed a difference after i put on a few miles and it adapted to my driving... where i had flat spots before i no longer do and now there is a bit more pull 4200-5500 area. nothing like a FI tune but i wasnt expecting anything like that i just want to eliminate the delays and flat spots that came from the factory.
