S4 Door blades $240 from over the pond

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Was just on ebay and I saw these S4 door blades for sale. They arent "real" S4 blades, but they look really nice IMO. I just thought I'd share the link with anyone else who might be looking for them because the seller had a few sets of them. I just ordered a set for myself for $240 shipped. They'll be here around Christmas time since they are coming from Germany

I'm figuring that they might not be absolutely perfect, but for a pretty good price compared to what you see at ECS and some other sites it's at least worth a shot. I'll post again when I get them and have them installed

Just hope that it's not those cheap replicas which you used double sided tape to install them.

We'll see. My uncle is teaching me how to do body work so if they do end up being the cheap replicas ill have him show me a way to improve their integrity and mount them in a better way than just double sided sticky taping them

Or remove the railings of the old stock blades and put them on the replicas. I have nothing against double sided tape, I use them for my rear spoiler and roof spoiler.

Its just that, its different if you can use the right railings and screw them on your car too you know?

I hate to burst any bubbles but they are plastic, not OEM one of my friends has family in Poland so his brother purchased them for me and he brung them for me of his flight back. I painted them used some clear latex caulking and cut up a can of soda so that I attach reinforcement metal behind them and they are being held with some stainless zip screws about 7/16" to be exact and I've been around real door blades and you can't tell the difference.

    SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I got the blades in the mail today. As for the quality, they seem to be pretty well made. They are hollow but dont seem to be fragile. That doesnt mean you shouldnt take care of them though. A good hit off of something will crack them. There are two holes in them that should match up to the two holes in each door for the screws that hold them on. Theres only the two holes though. Ive never pulled my stock door blades off before, is there anything else that holds them on besides the two screws? Any clips or anything?

Anyways, to look absolutely perfect, they'll need some sort of body filler. Not a lot though. Theres just some small marks in one of the blades, the others are fine (will attach picture) one of the blades seemed like it might have a wavy surface. Again, some body filler and sanding should help. After that, with some paint they should look pretty much OEM. For anyone going for that "close enough" to OEM look, these would be just fine the way they are and youd hardly notice anything wrong with them while on your car. Im going to do a test fit before i determine if i want to go all out and make these perfect or not. Ill post pics of the test fit once it happens!

(pic of the marks in one of the blades) and yes, i AM sitting on my floor like a little kid on christmas :)

Oem door blades have tracks on them and when installing they slide into place.

I don't think the tracks come off. You know the way a picture hangs on a wall? Where the hole for the nail looks like this
c==| (best description I could think of)
So the head of the nail catchs the picture keep it on the wall. It's the same style on the door blades. The door has the mails end (nail) and the blade has the female end. I think there are 3 or 4 along the bottom of the door.

Technically they are two pieces fitted together consisting of the bottom(tracks and holes) and the outer piece(blade) but you would have to break them apart as they are built to stay together. If you were ballsy enough you could try splicing the outer portions of your ebay ones with the bottom of the oems to make a better mounted door blade, but you could just end up with 2 sets of useless garbage.

x2 When you take off your blades you'll see why it looks like the ebay ones don't have the same track system.

Even EuroGear USA's expensive carbon fiber blades only use two screws and double sized tape between them. The 3M stuff is strong enough, it's not an issue, as long the blade is shaped right, and not deformed.

Gotta say...if they're not warped a screw at each end and some 3M tape will be fine. Those look OK!

The blades look to be a normal shape. Normal shape meaning not warped and no odd angles other than the ones that should be there. Im thinking that the two screws and 3M tape will be the trick to these blades. As long as they hold and look the way they should ill be happy. Does anyone have any reccomendations for any specific 3M tape for exterior pieces? Ive never dealt with any before so any input is appreciated!

BTW, test fit should be coming later this week as planned. I just started working full time and have nowhere near as much time as i used to

Use the outdoor mounting 3M double sided tape. It's the only one where the adhesive is grey and the backing is red. Stuff is ridiculously strong.

Hmmmm we just so happen to have that stuff at work! Still have yet for the test fit though, i apologize for taking so long guys! Im gunna keep them in my car and hopefully ill be able to stay late after work and mock them up with just the two screws to see how they look/fit.

On another note, are the door blades difficult to remove if youve never removed them before? My car has 72,XXX miles on it and it looks like mine have some sort of rust/corrosion on parts of them. I just dont want to break anything that i dont have to

Suuuuuper easy. Removing all 4 will take approximately 5 minutes. You just open the door take out the two screws and pull parallel with the door toward the rear of the car. They slide on the tracks about an inch and then pop straight off.
