Everywhere seems to be in the $1200 range, but Lotus automotive seemed like a straight-up guy and said he charges $850 for the job.
Doing this myself is not an option due to lack of space and tools.
Thanks for any input.
850 seems alittle too cheap. you prolly dont get a water pump with that, Which should be replaced at the time of a TB job.
IF you are up for the drive Redmond European will hook you up. Alot of people take their cars to them. Check out NWQuattro.com tons of reviews on them and their customer service.

Is that from Zoltan at Lotus Automotive? Was that who you ended up using? If so, hes a stand up guy, had him do some work on my old audi when i didnt have the time, and have since recommended him to a few friends! He puts out nice work at fair prices! $850 huh? I might have to give him a call next spring when mine is due at that pricing!
I got a quote for $800 at performance motors in lynwood. That includes timing belt water pump theremostat serpentine belt and
all the rollers pretty much the whole package deal. I think thats a pretty good deal.

That is a great price!

How much did you end up paying?
I paid 600(labor) + ECS Tuning Timing Belt Kit - Ultimate Plus,
I also had the Timing Chain Tensioner Replaced with the seal for that price.
I have been doing them for about 5 years off and on on VW and Audi's. I'm well versed in the 1.8t, 2.0t, 2.8 and 2.7t V6. I've done a few VR6 chain guides. Folks in the PNW Passatworld and Vortex know me. If anyone is willing to let an avid hobbyist-mechanic do it, let me know. I typically have you order a kit from ECS and charge flat labor based on what you want me to do (seals, water pump, etc) and I work out of my garage in Maple Valley. I just did a V6 Passat TB last week with water pump and thermostat in about 4hrs. PM for info and references if needed.
