Personally, I think it should be 4 on each side. I don't see what the purpose of leave one out would be.

There are only 3 bolt holes in the bumper shock flange...you could put one in the open hole, but it wouldn't be holding anything on to the car...

That extra hole could also be to use the pin that puts it in service mode.

Finally decided on Spec stg3+ clutch and OEM dual mass flywheel for better daily drivability. Should be here in about a week.

I have the same hoist but it's road cone orange. Works pretty well for the price. I would also get a load leveler. Made getting my engine and trans out of the Corrado so much easier.

Haha I'm one step ahead of you, I picked up a load leveler as well, just didn't take a pic yet. I also got a huge crescent wrench to help removal of the clutch fan. I can literally spend hours in harbor freight.

I got a lot of work done today. Removing the lock carrier was not as hard as I thought, here are some pics of my progress.

This is how I started out today:

Fan removed and put to the side:

Draining the coolant was also really easy:

    Lock Carrier off:

Intercoolers and piping out of the way:

Very interesting, I didn't know the trans cooler was behind the DS intercooler. No need for that anymore:

Since there is no more fluid running through the trans cooler I don't know if I should plug the port at the radiator or just leave it open, what do you guys think?

This is where the trans cooler line runs behind the radiator.

So I got a nice package from UPS yesterday. Finally got my 034 DP's, poly snub mount and cage, 034 track motor mounts, turbo mounting hardware, and SAI delete plates. All I have to say is that these DP's are of amazing quality and construction, I will definitely continue doing business with 034 on future builds. Now I'm waiting for the clutch and flywheel from EPL, and the I have to order a timing belt kit and bunch of seals so I can do everything with the motor and trans out. Here are some pics of what I got from 034.

I also decided to remove my spare block from the engine stand so I can get it ready for my engine:

This made block removal from the engine stand a breeze, I'll also be using this hoist for transmission separation when the motor is out:

    034 goodies:

    Bye Bye SAI:

Today I disconnected the front axles and drive shaft, not to bad of a job but a bit time consuming when doing everything on jack stands. The only thing left to do underneath is disconnect the slave from the trans which I still have to research. Hopefully I can pull the motor this week.

You're going to make sweet love to that tranny. My buddy was under the car, literally hugging the tranny in order to get both arms around to the right spots lol. Fucking worst place ever for that slave.

If you have small enough arms you can get to it from the top, or if you remove enough shit you can get to it easy.

I asked a few of the B5 guys and they recommended pulling the engine/trans about 6-8" forward and getting it out from the top. I think I'm gonna give that method a shot.

Getting closer, drained the oil today so I can get the AC compressor and lines out of the way but I ran into a snag when I didn't have a big enough socket to remove the oil cooler (does anyone know the size?). Since I couldn't do anything about the compressor I just decided to start clearing the top of the motor, SAI pump and hoses are now gone and for sale. I'm surprised how much space the SAI takes up in the back of the motor, good riddens.

Either buy new or rebuild that spider hose before everything goes back in! I rebuilt mine with fresh rubber hose and some clamps for like $20 and its 100% better than stock. Imagine how much more room will be back there with a fresh sorted out spider hose and those combi valves gone.

Got some work work done yesterday and today.

Got the AC compressor detached, just held up with a zip tie until the motor comes ou:

Disconnected the engine ground and peeled back the positive battery wire as well:

Removed the ECU and accompanying wires, was easier than I expected:

Finally pulled the motor/trans on Saturday all by my damn self, I started around 2:30 and motor was out by about 6:00. Other than having to remove the PS axle and down pipes it was pretty straight forward. It did wear me out though, which is why I'm posting this a few days later. Here are some pictures, didn't take too many as I was by myself .

Trans bolts in order from top to bottom.

This is how she sits until I remove the clutch and flywheel so it can fit on the engine stand.

Finally got the engine on the stand after a week of trying to remove the last three flywheel bolts, I had to resort to cutting them off. I can finally get to swapping out parts, cleaning the engine bay, and going stg 3 already.

Started doing some tear down work today, removed and broke the Spyder hose, all of the SAI system, and some other lines connected to the fuel rail. I also got a package from ECS today with a lot of good stuff. Next is removing the turbos and associated lines, gonna try and start that tomorrow. Here are some pics for your enjoyment.

    ECS goodies

    A lot of lines

    Peace!!!

    Turbos are pretty much in:

Started getting to work on the top end, fuel rail is off. I gotta make sure I blow all the crap off the top of the engine before removing the injectors, don't want anything falling in those holes.
