Well I know the pipe size is different. Just a large res with 2 inlets and 2 outlets on 1 res
Yes that's what I'm currently running... Its a internal H pipe res to straight rears. Going to go catless DP in the spring then probably get a proper 2.5 catback setup eventuality. That will be exhaust #4 hahaha
haha yah, about a week after this was taken my buddy went out and put down pipes on his car... I think he felt a little in adequate after this video was taken ahah.
Please can i ask a simple question, i am gettign confused as to what the diff is between down pipes and piggies. If i look at JHM's webpage there is a massive cost difference and they look different but which do i need to do and whch is better to do or do i do both?

Sorry am a numbers man not a mechanical man
Piggies ARE downpipes. It's just a question of what you do with the precats. With piggies, you leave your stock downpipes in place, you just "gut" the precats.

Piggies is often the cheaper route. Its not a lesser option just not as complete of a system as some would prefer. Both are definitely loud the cat-less option has more of rasp to it top down in my opinion but if you were next a car with piggies or just a straight system the differences are noticeable to (enthusiasts) but to the average person not really.
To those of you with an exhaust installed on your S4 Avant's, can you provide me with your experience on the increased drone after the install? From past experience with exhausts on hatchbacks type vehicles the drone is usually much more than on a sedan. I have a B7 S4 Avant and I'm planning on installing a full (with downpipes) 2.5" system this spring, but don't want unbearable drone to come along with it. It's also a tiptronic so I'm fighting an uphill battle already which is why I'm so concerned with people's experience. I've listened to every exhaust video I could find and only found a couple with good in car recordings.
Based on external sound I'm planning on going with one of the following 3, help me make the right choice!
- fast intentions full back with x-pipe and resonated (not sure what size resonators though)
- Milltek fullback resonated
- some combo of downpipes and corsa cat back
Any advice or even recordings would be greatly appreciated.
I don't want to ruin the Milltek GB thread with a bunch of non-Milltek questions. Of the three exhaust choices, can anyone tell me which one does NOT drone the most or offers the least drone?
1. FI
2. Magnaflow
3. Milltek
EDIT: Hahaha....same question as Boston above me ^^
I'm willing to bet all the exhaust systems have at least a little drone to them.
My FI 12" res with stock dps (soon to be catless) has a bit of drone in all gears from about 1400-2000 or so. It's easy to avoid it but I actually like some drone so it's fine with me. The system is downright sexy lol, and the fit and finish is perfect - I had it on in an hour no hack jobs or anything and it fit to a T. Danny does some fine work over there.
My best advice is if you are shopping for an exhaust is to listen to not only sound clips on YouTube, but to find someone local to you with the exhaust and listen to it in person. The guys on AZ would be more than willing to help a fellow enthusiast out.

I'm pretty much set on JHM 93 (or 94, since that is sold here) Octane tune with FI catted DP and FI cat-back... I just don't know which resonators to go with... ugh... at least I have a long time to figure it out.
If the new Milltek is a success, I may just switch my focus to that, along with FI catted DP.

Depends...is your car a dd? Do you carry people around that will not enjoy the loudness? How loud do you want it etc..?

I have JHM catless DP's with JHM 14" resonator catback, x pipe.....on my 04 avant. I honestly feel like it doesnt have much drone at all. Maybe a little from 1200-1800 RPM, but thats all. Car is extremely quiet on the inside compared to outside, maybe because im so use to my girlfriends mkv gti with full 3" exhaust, thats retarded loud on the inside. Anyway, i think you would be very happy with this set-up. Granted, when you get on it, or roll with the windows down, this car is quiet a bit louder, but thats a given. And when i say louder, its in no way drone, just exhaust note.
Honestly if you want something quiet, i would say just go with the new milltek thats out, pretty sure JHM is one of the loudest setups, minus custom.
If you would like, i could make a exhaust video for you, mostly inside if you would like. I have a pretty good setup, gopro with external mic.
can anyone link me or recommend some decent Tips, i want 3" or 3.5" chrome. I have a custom exhaust (removed resonators, partially gutted mufflers) and the stock tips aren't doing it for me.. I dont want to put some cheasy chrome thing from kragen/ebay.
Well I am going to use my "piggies" for emissions purposes only & I have a sale pending on Catless Milltek downpipes (I know yada yada they are not 2.5") however the only real reason I bought them was to have a Louder exhaust. I already have the Non resonated FI with piggies & I figure the Milltek with less bends & catless will chane the sound of my exhaust from what the piggies provide. And seeing as they both neckdown to 2.25 along with my FI exhaust, they will be easily interchangable! I didn't spend much $$$ on these, so I am not worried about the "you wasted your money remarks"
