2012 Audi TT RS Brake Problem

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Any TT RS owners...having a loud brake sound that remindes you of a stopping UPS truck. It is/was really bad. Audi jumped on the problem and shaved the edges on the pads and that removed most of the noise.

    Any one else with this?

Audi was really good about taking care of the problem. I never learned what was the real issue.

Disk brake pad chamfer eliminates the source of a vibration (that manifests itself as the audible squeal) inherent in large pads under light brake pressure/load. Common in most high-end pads. Mine did this - I put a 45% chamfer on the pads and the problem was solved. I've never installed pads without a chamfer on any of my cars.

    RS Brake noise

I just nailed the brakes a few times and the noise was totally gone. With the really Big 370 discs, I figured it just needed a little help with break in, so I "helped it".....problem gone.

The hard braking did not stop the noise. Ran it to 100 mph several times and it still sounded like the UPS truck. Take it to the dealership and Audi will fix it.

Had mine about 3 months. The squeal is loud and ridiculously embarrassing. Audi must fix this....it's realy a reflection on the whole line if their premier RS model has a cosmetic flaw like this. If they don't fix this, they are idiots. Actually, no......they are morons..... Audi....do you hear me????????

Dude...my TTRS was fixed...well almost. Still have a little..a very little noise when I apply my breaks softly. Audi will jump on this if you take it to your dealership. Tell them to call the tech guys and the engineers at Audi know how to fix it. If you have problems with your local dealership, call Audi customer service. They must chamfer your brake pads as stated above (45) degrees and place a red substance on the back side of your brake pads. I'm sure, Audi is looking at other fixes. Hope all TT RS owners get the word about this fix!

On my first ever Audi, the TT RS, I've had to endure the screeching, embarrasing brake problems. Fact, Audi knew about this problem before I bought the car but never informed the salespeople, meaning I was never advised. In other words, Audi knowingly allowed me to buy a car with a very pesky problem. Fact, they haven't found any solution. In other words, I, the client have to "eat" their poor quality and live with it. Fact, my dealer doesn't even want to see me over this issue as they have no solution. Fact, the salespeople who claim they don't just sell cars but follow up to assure client satisfaction, heard my complaints about the problem, phoned me to say they would follow up, and I never heard from them again. My take = Audi is a second rate auto manufacturer; their cars continue to have quality issues. Used to be rust 20 years ago, now its endlessly screaching brakes. Audi, please buy my car back!!
