JHM has B6-S4 Hitachi Alternator Upgrades!!!

    Hey 'ziners -

JHM has another solution for the V8 platform that addresses a common problem on many B6-S4s. Many of you know that OEM Delphi alternators have an extremely high failure rate - Audi has even discontinued their re-manufactured core exchange process on these units. That leaves anyone with a 2004 S4 or early 2005 S4 without a solution for their bad Delphi alternator.

Not to worry though!!! JHM is now able to sell a full upgrade kit that replaces your Delphi alternator with an upgraded Hitachi alternator that comes on late 2005 S4s and all B7-S4s.

Check out our product page for more information: http://jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalo...-s4-p-820.html

Here's a picture of the alternator with the new coolant lines to adapt it to your car:

Please email sales@jhmotorsports.com with any questions you may have!

These coolant lines will still have to be modified if we have headers though, right?
A few mods here and there

Hey noznab - I spoke with Jay about this and he said that the MOST you would have to do would be to bend the lines just a little bit to make it fit with headers. It's really nothing major at all.

What is the common tell tale that the alternator is going to fail? I think mine might have some bad diodes, because engine noise in the stereo is significant, no matter what I do. No it's not related to the install of the stereo, been installing for god knows how many years.

Check if the battery is being properly charged. You can also get the alternator tested (or do it yourself, if you have the Bentley manual).

Mine didn't show any signs of going bad before it stopped working. The Alternator Light came on the dash (Red Battery looking symbol) and about a day or two later the car went into limp mode right before dying completely. After a new alternator as well as a new battery I was good to go.
