I'm still rocking the summers. But I've gotta drive down to Denver on weds which is when it's supposed to snow, and only have a high of 33. Just might throw them on....
i just love all the calls we keep getting about needing tires for tomorrow. people its to be 50+ degrees the next 8 days after. oh well. and yes i know the mountains have snow, but i don't go up there. probably should.
No winters on the RS yet. Still stacked up in my garage. But this new weather coming in tonight has me second guessing my waiting till early November to mount them. Oh well.
Yeah you should! Show the .:R some twisties Also I need a new EB sticker.. Mine was so old/faded I had to take it off >.<
when i get time away from work i'll show it some snow love. text me your address and i'll get on from richard nov 7th. should have it out to you later that week.
Just grabbed my snows from the parents garage... still not sure if ill raise the car yet but snows will be on soon

haha was anyone else freeeeeezing last night? lol my friend slept over and i was still freezing... i was all bitch warm my ass up goddamn...
but ya idk about the winters... i'm worried about mag-chloride and shit deteriorating the finish on my matte black OZ ultras (i'm sure its just cheap finish)... should i just not worry about it or is it a real concern? i know vdubjetta02's wheel's finish came off a little, but his are hyper silver.
i was messing around a little in my all-seasons and wowww haha it was gettin pretty slippery! but i could still smell my tires lol so not quite slick enough. i think i'm gonna hold off on the winters for as long as i can. just worried about the finish... i.e. should i take them off and wash them and switch? winters are so wobbly
The studless winter tires (like the Blizzak WS60/70 or the Yokohama Ice Guard) are a bit wobbly at freeway speeds (especially on the dry). The performance snows (Like the Michelin Pilot Alpin - PA2 or PA3) are not so wobbly (but not like a summer performance tire mind you), but don't have the ice traction the studless winter tires do. I've done both. Thinking I'm gonna try the Dulop SP Winter Sport 3D performance snows this year (once I get some rims that fit the S4). Have a set of the Michelins on the OEM Audi 15" rims (15x7ET45 with 205/60R15 tires) with 8/32s tread left for sale if anyone is interested. Rockin' the All-seasons that came on the S4 at the moment.

I ran the Dunlop Wintersport 3D's last season, and they were excellent. I can't compare them to any other dedicated snow on my S4, specifically, but I can tell you that the car did fabulous in the snow. I never worried that I'd end up stuck or otherwise unable to get around. They did well in the dry also. Obviously, they're not a summer performance tire, but they did a good job.
By the way, I found an unused set of Rossi Phantoms and just picked them up. Having new Rossi Axial 125's fitted up to them right now. I demo'd them last season in Park City, and was impressed. Glad I found a set...and on the cheap! Nice to have an additional set for the ski-quiver.
If you have had your winter tires on all summer I'm questioning what condition they are in now... Unless by winter tires you guys mean all-season tires.

Hankook Ventus V12's run on mine the rest of the year.
I think those guys that may have said they run winters all year are either all-seasons, like you said, or don't drive their cars much!

Thanks for the info/testimonial. I seem to recall someone else recommending them. So I looked at the customer ratings on TireRack and felt they would definitely be worth trying.

I was looking at potential new skis and the guy at REI recommended them. A few weeks later when I broke my then current pair, I started demoing a bunch of skis, but they didn't have the SC97. The next weekend I was at Vail and the did. Never took 'em back to try another pair. Bought a pair new off their rack at the end of the day. Love 'em!

Just got my massive snows on, raised the car, and got my mud flaps on. Now I need to deal with this misfire issue and I'm good to go
