Who didn't know that analog boost gauges had to be calibrated for high elevation?
I'm a pretty smart guy, but never thought about this. I have been on a witch hunt to find my missing 3 psi at the top end for over a year now. I found it. It was in the boost gauge the whole time.
Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm......... wonder if SCR calibrated my boost gauge when they put it in lol
I guess the gauge is supposed to set at 0 when the engine is off. I thought there was just vacuum in the system when off. I also tested it using my air compressor to compare readings. It's been a rough month for me. Just got done passing emissions after 4 hours under the car trying to remove my TP, then only to find out I got turned down because I was too low, I had to come home and remove the front bumper too.
Had the same problem with my Podi. However, I could only get 1 of the 2 senders they have to calibrate. I spent like 2 hours on the phone with Winston (great guy) figuring it all out.
I don't know if you've done this already, but I could only get the sender with a green board to calibrate. The 1st one they sent me was white and would just make the gauge bounce all over the place.
Quite the pain seeing as how I had to rewire everything 3 times.
Never knew this until I moved back to california. I always though i had bent valves since my vacuum would never read passed -15hg. Turns out the gauge was supposed to be calibrated. The whole time I lived in Denver I thought i was running 24lbs of boost I was really running 19lbs of boost..

Having the same problem. I just finished installing everything and went to adjust the sensor for the altitude here in Denver but can't get it to zero the needle. I can get the gauge to adjust to almost 5 on the vacuum but as I keep turning the adjustment screw the gauge just shoots down to 30, and I repeat. Looks like I'll be calling Winston to get a sensor with the green board. Bummer.
Yeah, I'm not really sure what is going on. It definitely could be that there isn't enough adjustment to get it past 5, so when it hits that mark it resets itself.
MFerrrr...I just now saw this after TJ told me about it. I always thought I had a boost leak somewhere.
edit: 2 problems
1. I have the white board. Did anyone get the adjustment to work?
2. How small of a screwdriver do I need? I had a pretty tiny one but it wouldnt fit.
See? I knew this thread was worth it. You need like a screwdriver for eye glasses, really. I don't know if anybody has properly calibrated a white board. Good luck.

No matter what I tried, the white board wouldn't zero out. Podi gladly sent me the sender with a green board (which is the unit he wrote the calibration DIY with here: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...high-elevation ).
I wound up doing a static discharge before calibrating the green board. Seemed to make things a little more accurate. The 'screw' on the board is very very thin and flimsy. I used a pair of really thin needle nose pliers to lightly turn the screw. I had a hard time even with the green board, but it eventually got to zero.
