97 1.8tQ... Limp mode, won't drive in gear.... New parts everywhere

So I recently picked up a 97 a4 1.8tQ....auto.... At first the car would hesitate at take offs. It only does it randomly so I never thought too much about it. Well I checked the oil the other week and I motors antifreeze in the oil. Compression test revealed a blown head gasket. Replaced gasket, MAF, and plugs along with coolant and oil. Got the car back and it drove fine for a couple days. Then the batt goes out so I replace it with a redtop. Drives fine again. Couple days pass and the car won't get up and go when I give it a little gas. Just goes a little then stops goes a little then stops etc etc. Even if I floor it nothing happens. Only way to get it to go isto drop a "n bomb" on the tranny. It will start to go but the car sounds like a high whining noise and after it goes all the way to 6500 rpm it'll try to shift and the tranny is junk again, car doesn't want to drive.

Also before I had the headgasket done it would start up then die right away. I'd have to give it gas to stay alive. After I put the new battery in it started doing it again

Had it scanned and a bunch of fuel codes came up I have the list in the car I can provide later. But we and to the conclusion the tps went out. So I replaced TB and gasket. Unplugged the battery for five minutes then plugged it back up, turned the ignition to on for 30 seconds than started it. Revved through the rpm band just fine ( before it wouldn't go past 3500rpms). Didnt get a chance to pull it out of theshop and test drive it so I waited till today. Well I go to start it today and it's in limp mode again.

    Any ideas??

Wow. Clear all those codes. Then drive it for a day and check them again.

For instance, I doubt it is setting injector open-circuit codes if the car is running. So I don't believe those are accurate. In other words they very likely are old codes which are no longer meaningful.

Your limp mode probably has something to do with underboost/overboost or lean/MAF codes. Again, clear them and see what comes back after a bit of driving.

CEL doesn't matter. If it is indeed in "limp mode", there will be codes stored regardless of the light. Check the codes with vag-com.
