Audi of Manhattan
So, I just got my A4 B8 serviced at Audi of Manhattan. I was hesitant after reading all of the bad reviews but went anyways. I was driving for NYC to Boston last night and pulled over at a rest stop to get a drink. As I was parking, I noticed smoke coming from my engine compartment and a smell of melting plastic. I thought something was seriously wrong. I popped the hood, only to find a large screwdriver chilling in my engine compartment with the plastic handle melting and smoking like crazy. I removed and everything was fine but never going back there again.

At the time i purchased my s4, i also purchased a warranty for it. Since i didnt get my car at an audi dealership, the warranty company had to send an adjuster out to approve the work yada yada yada, hence the week wait.

Those idiots damaged my rotors when I had my car there. Screwed me over on a rental and weren't so willing to make repairs under warranty.

That place sucks. I've been there twice, never going there again.
First time I took my car there was to have the valve cover gaskets replaced. These idiots forgot to tighten the fuel line that goes above the passenger side valve cover. I caught it in time so no fire or anything like that.
Second visit was to have the AC compressor replaced. Took them about a week but they kept blaming Fidelity for not sending an adjuster. I called Fidelity and right away they waved the adjuster visit so they can start working on the car. Still took them two more days. I got the car back, drove to a gas station to fill up and go away for the weekend. I tried opening the hood but the lever didn't have any tension on it. I called the service guy right away and he tells me it was broken when I brought the car in. They were just about to close so I couldn't go back so I wen't on my trip without being able to open the hood.
After I got home and loaded up my luggage in the trunk and family in the back seat the "dipped headlight" warning came up. They must of started up the car without the headlights plugged in and never reset the code or forgot to plug something back in.
After I got back from my trip I did take the car back and they somehow opened the hood and installed a brand new cable and took care of the headlight problem for free but because of them I had to loose the car for another day.

So i had the car there for valve cover gaskets & AC compressor, they also replaced my crank seal while I was there. Low and behold, my valve cover gaskets & crank seal are STILL leaking. Time to call these bums and argue to get the work done on their dime.

I've had no issues with them while my car was under CPO warranty. Did all the work the way it was supposed to be done. But they are too expensive to deal with out of warranty. The parts they sell aren't cheap either, but most of the time they have them in stock so that's convenient when you're in a pinch.

This is why a lot of the good indy mechanics are crazy busy nowadays, dealers have become very unreliable lately.

So I brought my S4 in for service to get me Valve Cover gaskets and crank seal replaced under their parts & labor warranty. I had my game face on expecting a battle - low & behold, they were totally in agreeance with my diagnosis. They agreed to take care of the work under warranty. As I left the dealership and headed to the subway i said to myself, "wow, that was easy.."
...and then reality set in.
First off, I'll say that this time around, I dealt with an different service advisor, an older gentleman by the name of Art, he was helpful, informative and kept me upto date daily, even if there wasn't progress to report.
However, my S4 sat at the dealer for a week, an entire week, before the valve cover gaskets and crank seal arrived because "they weren't available locally." Total BS, i'm assuming they just put mine on the back burner so they can take care of the paying customers first. So week two arrives and the valve cover gaskets arrive as well as the crank seal, awesome, i'm thinking i should have my car back in a day or so. I get a call from Art, says the tech suspects that the cause of my gaskets and seal to be leaking may be a bad oil separator - but he needed me to approve the labor time so the tech can check it out. (Boom, just when you think you'll get some work done for free, they find a way to snatch some $ from you).
After 3 labor hours they call me back to let me know that it wasn't the oil separator but rather i needed need gaskets under the "intake manifold valley." He (Art) said "we can get this taken care of for you today, it's $200 in parts and about 5hrs of labor." I paused and asked how much his labor hour was, when he informed me it was $160/hr and the total job would cost $1000.00 i told him to put the car back together bc i wasn't paying $1000.00 for that. I called Danek at Eurotech to get some guidance/info - the gist of what he informed me: get your ride out of there, asap!
To his credit, Art asked me to give him some time to see what he can do for me. Since the car was already apart, I gave him the chance. He called me back the next morning to inform that Audi had agreed to do the entire $1000 job for the 3hrs of labor i had authorized in the first place. I said F*** it, just get it over with.
At the end of the second week i was given a loaner, a nice 2011 A4 - which came as a shock to me as i was told when i first visited them that i didn't qualify for a loaner because my car was more than 6yrs old.
Fast forward to the end of week three (it took another 3 days for the extra gaskets to arrive) and I got my car back - WITHOUT a working hood latch. Luckily i checked it out before leaving the dealership. Had to wait an additional 45 minutes for the tech to get that squared away.
Now that I'm out of warranty, I'll NEVER be going back to Audi of Manhattan again. They kind of hooked me up, but I don't necessarily consider spending $500 a hook up. Going forward Eurotech will be the only place that touches my ride.

Well, when you are under warranty, you should go to Town Motors Audi in Englewood.
I had many issues with my B8 that I took it to different dealerships multiple times but they couldn't figure out what the problem was.
When I took it to Town Motors, they found the problem and fixed it on the same day and I no longer had the same issue.
One thing that they can do to improve their service, is to call the customer when the job was done.
I was always told that they will call me when it's done. After not hearing from them until almost end of the day, when I called, the car was always already done. :(

This is just a hunch but I think we both must of had the same IDIOT working on our cars.
I know that guy Art too. Always trying to get extra $$ out of you. When I dropped off the car to replace the valve cover gaskets he called a few days later saying the spent like 3 hours cleaning the motor and its going to be $480 (160/hr labor) plus whatever the price was for 3 cans of degreaser. I asked him if he did the job already and he said YES. I asked him if he called me to get it approved from me and he said NO. I told him I'm not paying for it and hung up on him. And yes my car was there for a 3-4 days just to get that replaced.

Man, I wished I came to this forum before going to Audi Manhattan. After 10k miles, a yellow oil light came up. Took the car to the dealer service dept, and after 3 days, I'm still waiting on my car for engine oil replacement? The service adviser tells me they had to email audi tech support, this baffles me even more... then he calls me back to tell me there are other things his tech found in the diagnostics that has something to do with the oil light, and he has to wait for audi tech to tell them what to do.
At this point, he completely loses me. The car is under Audi Care and I'm hoping all the labor and parts are covered for this job, but i feel they are trying to milk the bill they want to send Audi. Anyone else with a similar situation on the Q5 and yellow oil light? How soon was Audi able to address this for you? I'm just worried about the cost they are trying to pass on to me along with any botch jobs that may lead to other problems.
thanks in advance!

Re: Audi of Manhattan
I called their parts dept the other day, after the 'parts guy' refused to respond to follow up emails on an item I requested. (Oh btw, this isn't the 1st time this has happened). Either the guy who took my call was having a bad day, or worse, he was outright unprofessional, if not rude; these guys take customer out of 'customer service'. I subsequently called a parts vendor (in the tristate area); the difference couldn't be more night and day. What a shame!!
