ElCapitan464 Part Out - - Warning Possible Scam - Aug 10th UPDATE

Following a request by another user for an update of what is happening, and to allow people to be aware of what is going on with the items being sold in this part out, this is a timeline of my purchase to date. I really wish that I had enough money so I could just say who cares, it is only $650, but I don't and this whole experience has really pissed me off. This is my first go at using the classifieds here, and dealing with a respected member of the community I felt comfortable going ahead with buying something from the classified. Well, I am getting a class A run around and a bunch of ignored attempts at contacting the seller. Here is my story (Updated Aug 10th).

July 13 - Bought the SMIC from ELCapitan464, he indicates to make the payment a gift so he doesn't have to pay the fees (and also make it difficult for me to file a paypal dispute!)

July 15 - Trust the guy and transfer payment via paypal $650

July 19 - Don't hear from him, so send PM and he says he will ship on the 20th or 21st

July 25 - Send PMs but he doesn't respond, so I post to the wall of the classified where I bought the SMIC (another person also has posted asking for a refund on a boost gauge)

July 26 - Seller indicates on the wall of the classified that everyone that bought an item will be receiving a tracking number shortly (also get PM saying the same thing)

July 27 - Didn't get tracking number, send PM saying that I didn't get it

July 27 - Seller sends a PM and says he will resend the tracking number in the morning

July 28 - Still no tracking number, so I send a PM and an email saying that I didn't get the tracking number

July 28 - Seller says that it is on his work email, so he will have to wait until he gets to work in the morning and send it

July 30 - Still haven't heard from him, so send a PM that I never got anything

Aug 1 - Still haven't received the SMIC or a tracking number, so posted on the wall of the classified again asking for update

Aug 4 - Still haven't received the SMIC or tracking number and still being ignored, so posted on the wall again

Aug 5 - Still nothing, send a PM to Seller asking for a refund

Aug 5 - Finally hear back. Seller sends a PM saying the package was "already sent out" and "eric i am not trying to give you the run around, the items were sent out earlier this week, i then left out of town for a couple of days, that is why i have not seen you messages"

(this is kinda funny since this is the run around by definition; and even more funny because I have talked with someone that was thinking of buying another item from him that has been in contact with him over the last couple of days before, but it seems he can't update me, and I have already paid)

Aug 8 - Great news!!

"Eric, here is the tracking number 1Z17W26203-**************, it will be updated shortly by ups, they just contact me and found the package. -Seller"

Check the UPS site, and more good news (though a little funny with the timing, as I get the following message)

"A UPS shipping label has been created. Once the shipment arrives at our facility, the tracking status--including the scheduled delivery date--will be updated."

Aug 10 - The UPS label was created at OEMPlus shipping department, so I am guessing this is where he works. UPS still has not received the package, so it seems that he is running a scam using his work's shipping department. Time to contact his work!

So I am very, very, unhappy with this experience, as you can imagine.

Wow, yeah that is a pretty standard round a round but would surprised if that was what Captain was actually trying to do. Hopefully it works out for you man.

Damn! I was even thinking about getting his boost gauge! That's pretty shitty. I hope you get it all worked out. $650 IS a lot to spend for most people on here. Thankfully, I still feel that most AZ members on here are professional when it comes to the classified section, which is important because I like doing some business on here too.

Yeah I'm very surprised, me and him went back and forth over his coils for a couple weeks but I ended up using the money elsewhere and he was not gonna give me any kind of deal :-/ even tho I've seen his exact setup with less miles for much less... Good luck with everything

I'd guess that he's not trying to scam you, but even so, a month without shipping an item that's been paid for is unacceptable.

Maybe he didn't have the part completely uninstalled? Who knows... Regardless, it's ridiculous. Keep this thread updated and good luck either getting the SMIC's you paid for or at least your money back.

Dont worry the mods will help you once strokes sees this he will be right on it and I have been given the run around from nick too when I actually bought something from oemplus so not sure calling his work will help

Well seeing that a thread (this one) has been started about him and the fact he has not chimed in to explain anything tells me you lost your money :(. Sorry to hear you had to go through this and that there are people doing this to others in this community.

He created the thread less than 2 hours ago so I'm not quite sure how you can reach this conclusion....

I hope everything gets worked out and you either get the SMIC or your money back.

I haven't bought anything from Nick, but since I'm the one who sold him the SMICs in the first place, I thought I'd chime in. He paypaled me personal to buy them, without my even asking, so I wouldn't be too worried about it at that point, although the slow shipping is definitely disappointing.

Well not to fan the flames, but I paid for his AWE HPFP last week, and have yet to hear from him since payment. Hopefully it arrives today or he'll chime in in this thread with an update. Otherwise, I'll just go through paypal.

Btw, aren't those ER DSMIC $750 brand new?

Thank you Kristokes, I was quite surprised when I saw the asking prices of his stuff, I'm by no means trying to bash on nick. But he seemed a bit to confident in his pricing... Not saying his coils weren't worth 775$ but I found three sets on the vortex with less miles for around 500-650$ shipped :-/
I know I saw a other members commenting on his prices and that they could get them cheaper, his comments were to the affect "then buy those" lol
Good luck, as this seems extremely un-audizine like... Especially for a respected ex-top tier owner...

Thank you for all the feedback, I hope this works out. I only found new sets for $895, so if you know where they are $750, I would like to know in case I get my cash back instead of the intercoolers.

I am sorry to hear about your experience with Nick, as it is very disheartening to hear/read about this. Nick is a very stand up guy, he is a very close friend, but has been having difficulty with the part out process, which is no excuse for lack of updates. I can vouch for him, the parts and not being scammed by him. I will call him later today and check to see what is going on and for him to chime in.

For any of you who have bought from him can't get ahold of him, let me know via pm. I will not give out his personal information, but will get in contact with him. I am sure this will be resolved in a timely manner.

I don't have stokes baller admin powers, but I will also help.

I've bought the bi-xenons from him, it's been over 3 weeks, since I've sent the payment, he still hasn't given me a tracking number and I'm really starting to get fed up. He keeps telling me that he hasn't been into the office and the tracking number is there. That was last Thursday.

Wow I am so glad I didn't complete that paypal to him!! Even if he is having trouble parting out, I wouldn't want to wait more than a few weeks on something I dropped big $$ on :-/ damn I just can't believe this! We need a sewing circle to discuss this shit cause it's the first eye opening thing I've read on here in awhile. Now if this was Some two ringer newb or Vizi [:-P] I'd expect it :-) but nick and his top 10 b7... No class

wow guys, i do apologize, i happen to be out of town and when i came home on monday i made sure everything had shipped out. i didnt realize until today that my packages were not picked up, again i do apologize about the delay, eric you have been updated with a tracking number for the parts you have ordered and they are being sent out as we speak, E-maxx and NorcalPB i have also sent your both of your items out and i will send you a pm as we speak with the tracking number for the headlights and the boost gauge, i have personally taken a picture of every item being loaded into their package, i will personally send everyone ther pictures of every item being sent out with the packing label on the box. again i do apologize family matter did come out and it did delay me in getting everyones orders fufilled, if anyone has any questions you can personally email me at NBarnes464@yahoo.com

x2.. there's no way in hell you guys are being scammed, so let's stop using that word. the part-out process is not always as black&white/simple/easy as you'd expect, and i know nick to be an honest and respectful guy - so you will receive your packages

did everyone get there stuff from him? i am going through the same thing with him now. i paid him over a month ago. also got the tracking number at work excuse. and the ups label made but not package received by ups. and i could not get a hold of him..
