How to change LED stipes on Dectane Headlights

Okej! well some people wanted me to make a DIY on how to change the LED stripes on the Audi B7 Dectane Devileyes LED stripes.

well im going to be as precise as i can and sorry for my bad english :P, i hope u'll understand.

first of for you who dont know how to remove the front bumper here is a guide
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...oval-of-Bumper

After removing the bumper and you dont know how to open up the headlights here is another guide.
    http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-Corner%29-Mod

but to make it easier for you.

it takes about 10 min to open up a headlight, not so complicated at all, you will need a flat screwdriver and a heating gun.

the pics are from Phils DIY: on how to open up the headlights, but in this case theese are not the same headlights we are going to open so thats why im telling you it is easier :)

    1. remove the 5 clips that are holding the headlight with the other part of the headlight

2: after removing the clips, remove the rubber protector:

3: now use the heating gun like ont he pic Phil is using, for like 3-5 minutes about 10cm from the headlight, so that the rubber holding the headlights becomes soft.
After that try to take the headlight apart.

You need to pull a bit, if you have someone there he/she can help you heat the rubber while you are removing the headlight.

    now the headlight is open.

well as you can se that the LED part of the headlight is on the other sitde of the headlight, so now what you need to do is unscrew the screws take of the Ground cable and then the headlight is free, but first remove the screws from the original LED stripe

    Here is the original LED's

Here si the canbus with the resistor, this thing is connected with the original led, cut it off

Now the DRL plate is loose :), you also have another plastic shield in front of the led remove it before drilling.

So what you need to do now is to remove everything from the LED plate, like this picture:

Glue the led stripe on the plate where the last led were sitting, as on this picture

Connect the wires, the ones you did cut of from the original led, and test if the led works, you can do that by connecting the headlight with the car.

if it works then close the headlight first you need to reheat the glue and the press everything in again and dont forget to put the clips and the rubber shield on :)

i know this might seem to be comlicated, its not its just me who cant explain very good on how to do, but i hope that you understand, jsut ask me if anything will explain as best as i can.

very good mate! wonderful DIY, looks like a very simple job to replace the led from the headlight.

please give detail for everyone what LED you use, that will help other members.

I used some cheap leds from ebay, they nactually sucked. like Phil said after 1 month i had to chnage them :(
but if you buy better led bulbs and replace the old one with them it should light up much more, a friend of mine did that

He replaces the led bulbs with better ones, hi-power, and they actually look good and they light up about 10 times more than the original ones.
Where to get good leds, actually I don’t know, you may find most of them on ebay, or ask Phil he might know

he is really good when it comes to LED, ask him, he maybe can help you

i think the best way to get good LEDS is to buy the smal led lights and then build them ureself
ibit like the last picture i have on the post above, thoose are the ones Dectane have made, you do the same but with ure own leds and more of them.
