hey guys,
first post in the s4 section, picked up an s4 last week, an the modding has begun, already installed stasis exhaust an custom 2.5" DP's, thing sounds like a monster compared to my b7 a4, well today I hardwired my radar detector to the funk button, def a cool mod, if anyone has any questions regarding doing the mod let me know.

and here is a picture of it, works great as the mute button an i actually like the green light.
I'd be interested in the writeup of the wiring for it. I've come so close to pulling the trigger for this mod several times but never have actually gone through with it. Also, any info on what radar detector you did this with and any additional hardware needed. I'd like to see a proper DIY if you have the time as the wiring for the funk button is very hazy.

6 wires IIRC. Two on the top are power for the red and green LEDs and one ground. Two on the bottom are for momentary on/off and one ground. I've got it somewhere, I'll try to find it.
I did the same thing to mine. Awesome mod. I left out the LED though and just did the illumination. Also put a power override switch under the center console with a power LED and ran all the wiring up to the V1 up by the rear view mirror.
actually guys i am in the process of writing one up, once im done with it i will post it up, give me until next week, busy this week with a couple socal euro things, but there will be one soon.
Hey I'm a complete noob to mods on audi's. I have a B7 owned it for month now and I'm planning on doing stage one any day now. I would like to wire my radar detector through the dash and have the unit sit just above the dash air vent. How should I go about wiring it? also how did you get your dash apart to knock out the space for the funk button? Thanks.
What type of relay did you use that triggers from the 'momentary on' on the switch?

"momentary" implies current only being applied WHILE the button is pressed.. i.e. "for a MOMENT".
I also have this question.. does the button have "press on, press off" functionality like the flasher button, or does it have true "momentary" operation like the rear shade button?
The switch I have is NOT a momentary on, like someone said earlier. If you plan on putting any kind of load through it I would use a relay. Does anyone know what this switch is rated at?

do a search, I found one for this mod a long while back. It could be ain quattroworld or auroaddiction forums. Just can't remember, but there is a DIY out there.
Was there ever a DIY written for this? I'm looking to do it this weekend.
Go get yourself a Bosch 30amp relay and harness from the autoparts store. They are very common universal relays. Here is a simple diagram for the install. "Fans" on diagram will be what ever you want to power with switch.
