I am an old member here but not many people know because I have been missing for the longest time and probably the members I used to talk to more often no longer have the cars or post here. I moved from NJ to Albania and started a business which I struggled to make it work and in the end it didn't so my car was no longer my priority. Don't get me wrong I love my car and I never got rid of it and drove and enjoyed just never had the cash or time to work on it anymore.
This is how my car looked in the beginning:
And I turned it into this:
And then an asshole in a big truck turned it into this:
So thankfully I got a new job and decided to do everything I wanted to do to the car, well body wise - no cash for engine work atm. Totally custom wide body, custom sides, custom front bumper, projectzwo rear which will be modified. I even got the plastic mesh from germany so everything looks at place. It will take 2-3 months to complete because it is very very hard to do. Also I am not posting it in the project forum because I am not doing the work. A good friend of mine from Realb Design, an amazing body guy and painter is doing it. The color I am pretty much 90% sure on what I want. No more satin. It will be shiny . The wheels for now are staying the same just changing the color. I ordered some 30mm spacers through Mike Hood.
Ok enough with the talk. Let's do pictures of the progress so far:
sry to hear about ur car.. shht was sick.. project looks like its coming along nicely. the way u have done the back panels resemble the 'bug eyes' wrx rears.. looks good! for my next color im thinking of going with a flat light grey.. flat meaning non metallic, not matte.. maroon or dark burgundy always looks nice too.. look forward to seeing how this turns out!
Thank you guys. I missed playing with my car so much. The inspiration is from wrx's old m3's and the new rs6's. The lines will be smothed out more and become more roundish than now. This is right after the fiberglass for reinforcement was laid. It is all welded metal underneath so it will never crack. I was thinking about the flat but glossy grey too. The old Porsche ones are nice. But then I though all my life I had grey cars so I'm going with something flashier this time. Not ricey though.
Welcome back, man! SOME of the old timers are still here, but most just don't post as often anymore.......Sorry to hear about the business, the car, and such....but it's good to have another quality B5er back in the game. Keep us posted!
Its refreshing to log back into this forum after a good few months to see a new wide body project, and its even more refreshing to see a different style of wide body other than the whole audi massive flare widebody. Lovin' the clean sharp edges and it reminds more of a rx7 FC widebody.

Thanks everybody for the warm welcome and I am very happy to see old timers also. I needed this welcome for being out of the game for so long. I didn't make it wider in the rear for a couple of reasons. First is that I wanted it to resemble more of the widebody style of the new RS6 in terms of smoothness and body integration. The second is that I will be using spacers and I didn't want to go larger than 30mm but I still want a decent stance. I have no cash for wheels atm and I don't think I will for a while so I didn't want it to look stupid. Third reason is that I will be doing RS4 style side skirts and they will flow with the front and rear fender, and I don't want them to come out too much and look like SUV's running boards. The width of the car will resemble more the width or the RS4 or maybe a tad narrower.
I will post updates as soon as I check on the car and when the car progresses more I promise better quality pictures.
Again thanks everybody for the welcome and hope everybody will enjoy it once its done.
We are getting old. I have been on AZ and with my car for 5 or 6 years. Good thing I love this car.
And hopefully I will get to be more active again on here.
Interesting choice on the execution of the widebody... it will definitely be one of a kind and I'm interested to see what it looks like once completed. What are your plans for the following...
1. Front fender sidemarkers (keeping them or shaving)
2. Door handles (keeping, retrofitting facelift, or shaving)
3. Lower door molding/side skirts
4. Inner fender wells... both metal and plastic liner wise
5. Front bumper
6. Rear bumper
1. Sidemarkers will be shaved and I will be trying to do some signals in the mirrors but it will be a very thin looking one like the Q7 A5 etc. mirror signals.
2. Door handles will stay the same. I don't want to shave them as it is my daily and I don't like the way the facelift ones look with my choice of widebody. If I did something more rounder like the RS4 widebody then I would have changed them.
3. Side skirts will be custom made for the body but it will be RS4 style.
4. The metal parts are being extended and about the plastics I will try to extend the plastic ones with plastic welding and If I don't suceed I will try to retrofit RS4 ones.
5. Front bumper will be the Kerscher one but with some modifications to make it more simple and RS4 style.
6. Rear bumper will stay the same with the molded projectzwo rear and it will just be widened to the body and maybe extend the lower sides to match the side skirts.
But the main concern at the moment is the welding and cutting the passenger side of the car as the fuel tank is there and it is scary :)

I think I am going to leave the handles alone as with whatever I am trying to achieve body wise will be more suited with the prefacelift ones. My friend thats doing the work was begging me to shave the handles and I just don't think it will look ok with this body style.
Rob I appreciate the support and if my car comes out to be half as nice as yours I'll be happy :)
The mesh from Germany showed up today. All plastic and nice and thick.
Nice! I really need to find somewhere in the US that sells that for reasonable prices
Mine was about 88 USD for two of them because I want to do the bumper the grille and maybe a small part of the hood and I want to have some leftover just to have it.
I got mine from http://regulatuning.de/ and their email is regulatuning@aol.com. Their shipping is not expensive and I think you should drop them a line.
