Popping this up for folks that might not have seen this.
Surprisingly my dealership did not perform this during my last oil change a few months ago. Just recently I got blinking EPC light and horrible bog on acceleration. Turns out my camshaft is riding dirty, ie metal on metal, and needs to be replaced. I've asked them to change the oil too.
The campaign 15d6 is be must done on vehicle that was made 2009s. I haven't seen any campaign for vehicle 2010+. The campaign is open due to camshaft adjust screen coming loose and the bearing comes out and drops into the chain that might cause more damage. Also while doing adjuster unit if camshaft is damaged have to open up TAC ticket to get approved on the camshaft. Just for the information if the vehicle is out of warranty you guys should get this done, in long run might damage the camshaft which cost more than 300.
Just had this done also. The service rep said that they found oil leaking from my drain plug and found that the drain plug treads where warped so they gave me a whole new oil pan and plug. I'm starting to think the dropped the bearing and it fell into the oil pan (i hope it fell straight through) and had to change it out. Do you guys notice the car idles rougher after the camshaft RVU?
Just had this done when I brought mine in for the 25k.
And no, I haven't noticed any discernable changes in idle, or any other performance characteristics.
I just called the local dealer, Hunt Valley Audi in Maryland north of Baltimore, and the Service Adviser says he never heard of any camshaft RVU on any A4, but he ran my VIN and he said nothing came up. (This is a 2010 2.00, built August 2009)

Its for MY09 model year... no 2010's have posted as of right now.

Does this require an oil change if just checked? Obviously if it needed replaced they would change the oil. I ask only because I have to take mine in tomorrow.

Yes it's the screen that fails, but the issue it causes is oil starvation in the head, hence why at times if it's bad enough you will get a new cyl head...

I'm looking at the TSB

Mine's been in the shop 2 weeks, repair bill approaching $3,000 out of warranty. The TSB is dated 7-5-2011 with revision August 3. This means that they've known about the problem for months and haven't notified owners that there's a bomb ticking in their engine. My just happended at 63,000 miles
Talked to a mechanic buddy, they have a new design in the 2.0TFSI. Requires special tools only available from AoA to pull the valve cover, so no one outside of a dealer can crack it at this point to repair. Sounds like a revenue enhancing move for the dealers. I've been a 15 year A4 driver, 3 cars since 1997 and have helped sell several via referrals. This will sorely test whether I can continue on with a company that treats customers this way.
Get this page 8 of 10 in Bold lettering. "If the vehicle is outside of the specified warrant period, the customer has the option to pay for the repair."
If they had notified me that there was a grenade with the pin pulled in my engine waiting to go off, I would have beat feet to the dealer to get it done for $400. Would have been happy to do it and would have thought they are really on top of the customer service you should expect from a premium company and dealer.
The directions for the camshaft repair are located in TSB 2023107. If anyone has a copy of that, i'd appreciate a lead on locating it.
I could be treated like this at a Chrysler dealer with a lower shop rate....
I asked for the CSA to save the parts. Let's see if I get them back.
Look what a vag scan returned this evening.
No check engine light, not sure if it's related though:

I too have a MY 2009 only had it about 2 months 38K mikes on the clock...noticed the steering vibration while turning immediately and dealer knew right away to change the power steering pump however it feels the same haha..
But will call the dealer Monday to get this issue replaced..
So just got back from my dealer and they showed me right there on the computer mine was performed during the certified pre-owned inspection a few days before I bought the car!
One less thing to worry about ... Now if I could just get my steering wheel to stop vibrating while turning lol
k9lovr, where was your coolant leak at? I smell coolant after driving my car (38k miles), but I can't find the leak. I also am eligible for the camshaft adjuster rvu, but I wanted to have some idea on the coolant problem before i took it in for service.
When I pulled the skid plate to do an oil change there was coolant on the cross member behind the drain plug. I started to look around and saw that coolant was leaking onto a spot just below the throttle body. I will take a few pics and post them up to give a better idea of where it was. Does the over flow reservoir look low? Mine was below the min line. I had already had it looked at before when it was low but they just topped it off and said they could not find a leak. I think it has been leaking for a while and just burning off before it dripped down.
Actually my overflow reservoir shows coolant near max level, so I'm not sure what's going on. Sounds like we have different issues. I don't see any leaks, haven't taken the belly pan off yet, but will have it checked out soon. Thanks!
Is this world wide or only for US cars. I have a MY2009 1.8TFSI and vin is within the range. I bought it 2 months ago. Guess I have to check with the local dealer if this have been done if it applies to EU/Norway cars too.
I have now checked with my local dealer and this was already done by the previous owner. puh, now I can relax.......for now :-)

Reason: Update
Brought my vehicle in over the weekend for maintenance. They checked to see if the RVU was required on mine and they said it wasn't. However, they did do the B&O and TPMS updates.

About to head over to the dealer to get this done, keeping my fingers crossed that there is no other damage as I'm paying out of pocket will post back later after its done
Ok so just got everything change the tech said if I waited another month there would be a very big prob... Spent almost $400 on labor and few parts but in myimd well worth it to preven much bigger wholes in my pockets... Anyone who doesn't know if this needs to be changed just stop by your local dealer and find out, especially if you are out of warranty like me. Good luck
