    Difference between ko4 and frankenturbo?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I currently have a ko4 and want more. But I need something reliable because I have kids. The car had the ko4 when I bought it. Here are some questions I have:

    How much more power?
    Reliability?
Do I have supporting mods already? Refer to sig.
ko4 turbo, apr stage II, genesis 380cc injectors, apr tip, apr snub mount, evolution racewerks fmic, forge dv, hallman mbc, testpipe, magnaflow exhaust, prosport boost guage, kenwood indash dvd, koni coilovers, 18 inch R8 replicas, 20% tint, alpine type r 12, kicker amp, led license plate bulbs, 10000k low beam hid, 3000k fog light hid, EuroPlate and b7 key fob.

You could use a little bigger injectors (440). Everything else should be good unless you want to upgrade the FMIC. the Frankenturbos havent been out long enough to say they're completely reliable, but it seems like no one has had any hardware problems with the turbo itself.

but next time, a search would answer a question like this.

as a step up from a K04 i don't think you are going to see much of a difference but i haven't been in one personally so i can't speak from experience.

You are trying to say that you've read through 12 or so threads in this image (that would be relevant) and 39000-ish posts about the frankenturbo on a 1.8T and you can't find what you're looking for???!?

stick to a K04 for you B6 since its a daily. Solution to your fix would be to buy a faster car to begin with or a sport bike.

if i could do it again, i'd live at home for another 2+ years after college and buy a used 997TT and have my mom do my laundry and cook me dinner.

if you want full reliability a real BW K04 and solid software (APR, MTM or GIAC) with supporting mods (exhaust, FMIC, TT386 injector) will be the best. I ran a BW K04 w/ APR software for 50k+ miles with no glitches.

    Power:
    K04-015 = 220-230 CHP
    FT = 270-280 CHP

    Reliability:
Great, you could drop sand in the bearings and Doug will overnight you a CHRA for $125, if it's a manufacturing defect then you get the $125 back

    Supporting Mods:
You have most of what you need. You could run it on what you have, more aggressive tune and Water/Meth would be icing on the cake
