Unitronic 2008 Audi A3 Project Car!

Here at Unitronic Chipped, we teamed up with some of the best in the VAG community to build a car that not only represented our tuning software, but also those involved in the industry. We are currently modding our 2008 Audi A3 with the help of a handful of well known people in the community. Everybody is enthusiastic in taking part, because the car features quality products from quality companies. Most importantly, we want to share this build with you all and we want to keep you all updated with our progress. There will be a final video and maybe a short teaser included to showcase the build and the final result that is yet to come. Bookmark this thread to follow the updates!

Katja from TM Tuning was the first person we had in mind to get what we needed for the aesthetic part of the project. We explained to her our project in mind and she loved the idea and wanted to be part of this adventure! We’re very excited and honored to be working with them!

Toby is the man! We saw a couple local project cars he worked on and we were really impressed by their quality, but mostly by his dedication and integrity! He is the kind of guy who will work 80 hours in a week if needed in order to deliver the final product on time! We want to thank him for accepting this project considering the small time frame he has.

Corey from Air Lift and Derick Szyda from Komet Motorsports are the ones who made having this kit possible. We arrived very late in requesting the air suspension since there is a long process involved. Luckily, Corey and Derick were very helpful in getting us the kit we needed on time! All we can say is that these guys really went the extra mile to help us and we can’t wait to install it!

OEM Concept is the best known wheel shop here locally and their reputation is going internationally very quickly. What made us choose them from the thousands of wheels distributors? Customer service is what really stands out from most of the wheel shops we dealt with and Andrew was very helpful in getting the Rotiforms we needed, on time!

Even with mutiple projects going on at the office we still managed to get far with the suspension install. The instructions are very clear and everything goes according to plan. Front struts, rear bags, rear shock absorber are installed. We started passing the wiring and planning to put all the rest together pretty quickly! Will keep you posted tomorrow!

Today, we sent our air tank, to get a custom paint job, to the people at LLArts. We’ll save the pictures of the results for later.

Our boys here at the shop finalized the wiring of the air lift kit. We borrowed a spare tank from Strasse Motorwerks to test our setup while ours is still being painted, we want to thank them for that. The controller is going to be hidden in the glove compartment to keep a clean look. The setup is not 100% complete, but it works!

We we`re waiting for the custom air tank to finish the suspension setup. After few hours of prep, a color matched Ibis white + some logos ( yes, their painted! ), here`s LLARTS final creation! The rest of the pictures will be posted tomorrow!

The team at the shop was very productive. We finished the trunk setup, so now we can say that the suspension is 100% installed. Everything works perfectly, but we can't tell how it drives since the car is not put back together yet. We'll provide you our thoughts on the Air Lift product once the car is completed.

We removed the stock k03 turbo and intercooler to replace it with the S3 K04 Turbo and S3 Intercooler. Everything was put back together today and we just need to fit the exhaust part. More to come!

The Unitronic Motorsport pre-release exhaust system has just been installed! The quality and ease of installation makes this an interesting product that is soon to be released. We opted for a version with muffler and resonator making the sound real smooth. We will record some sound clips in a few weeks. The car just left for LLARTS to be painted!

We got a nice box with body part from TM Tuning. Here are some pictures of what will be placed on the car. The pictures of the side skirts come from a 2 door S3. We returned those, and are awaiting the ones for the 4 door model.

The Audi A3 is now at the LLARTS shop. They started preparing the bumpers and side skirts. More to come later. If you want to see one of the artists at LLARTS, here is a short video clip for you! hehehehe

The guys at LLARTS finished the body preparations and are still applying the primer. If we get the rest of the parts on time, we foresee finishing the car next Tuesday. More pictures will be posted of the progress.

The front end needed some love. It had some major stone chips on the hood and the fenders so we decided to repaint the whole front end. The piano black parts are the mirrors and the roof.

Alright, we brought in our Audi to VAG Motorsports and got our buddy Matt to align our wheels. They specialize in Porsche, Audi, BMW, and VW and do a good job in tuning and maintaining high end cars.

The front bumper is mounted as seen in the pictures. It looks real nice. The rear one just came in and it's being painted now. It's all a mater of getting things done in time for Thursday morning before Waterfest. Photoshoot is in 2 hours with the models in another local garage. More on that later.

Yesterday was our photo shoot for the 2011 season poster and the A3 was part of it. The photo shoot was at 6pm and we got the car ready for 5:30pm and drove directly there! LLARTS made miracles with the rest of the body parts.

This is the only A3 picture we will post until we come back from Waterfest! For the ones going to the event, come visit us to see the A3 and grab a poster ;-) See you this week-end
