Try not to assemble these ones with dog hair as lube, yeah

I decided to go away from IE's and got a set of pauters and had changed my mind on the turbo setup, instead of the HTAGT2868's i decided on (with NYCVR6's help) GTX2867r's. the motor is currently at the machine shop and manifolds should possibly be started next week. For my birthday i was surprised by my brother, fiance and sister where they pitched in to get me an rs4 intake manifold, 034 fuel rails, and aquamist HFS-3 which is awsome. ill update as it progresses

also why gtx 2867 instead of hta2868s? 68mm > 67mm eh? i know forced performance doesnt display their compressor maps, but they say they can flow 48 lb/min and i believe them ....

custom manifolds dave, also my first choice was the 2868's but everyone is doing them now so i was debating hta 2871r's until justin (NYCVR6) was showing me the maps and since i dont know how to read maps very well he explained that they arer making more power than some larger turbos, i figured why not just take the chance and try them out, i believe they will work very well :)

Gotta run a ton of boost on them. Just cracked 420awhp on a basically stock 1.8T as well, 36psi on a GTX3071R

i come from a strong evo/sti performance background and still learning the 2.7, but the gtx series really only shines at high boost levels. so if you plan to run over 25lbs, go gtx. they sound a lot different as well.

What size pistons are you using? Wont you need a bigger bore headgasket if your using a 3.0l crankshaft? (i just saw you mention stock)
Im glad u opted for pauter over ie, if your going to go this far, might as well do it right :)

I cant wait to see what you get out of this. That was a pretty impressive k04 engine it had before, im excited to see what you can squeez out of this.

No. The GTXs he got are factory unmodified turbos. The HTAs while probably very reliable, have been modified to make them what they are, and very likely do not have the same R+D behind their design.

How can you possibly tell someone that they should go single instead of GTs. You've failed at every build you "started". VR swap, single turbo, probably even failed at going stage 3.
