To all you guys who are interested in the Carbon Fiber or Kevlar look, with no performance upgrades, I have a friend who is a professional airbrush artist. I am sending him a stock s4 Y-pipe for him to paint, he can paint just about anything on it. I am going to have him mimic Carbon Fiber, once it's done I will have him take some pictures of it and email it to me. Anyone interested in this please let me by email and I will forward the pictures and the Artist info. I figure since its a cosmetic upgrade and not performance, this might work out well. alright guy, spoke to my CF guy and he will be overlaying mine with a custom weave CF. Hopefully it'll be done in a few weeks. I'll post photos when I'm done and tell you guys how much it ended up being. It will definitely be cheaper than $1k though, lol...(he's guestimating about $400~500 in material and labor).

if we show enough interest i'll talk him into purchasing a couple pieces and do a sale+core exchange program

350 is more realistic. That's still with 6 hours at 50 an hour. If I could go two days without my allroad I would do it just to show you guys how easy it is.

I've had the SDR pipe and I have the RS4 pipe now...and I have to say that they deffinetly feel like they provide an increase in power. I never dyno'ed either of the parts back to back, but driving around town/fwy you can absolutely feel the difference.

But I might just order this Loba one, it is so damn sexy ;)

Can anybody just start making replicas of RS4 or bigger Y-pipe from stock aluminum tubes? Maybe Loba would sell just the core pipe, I don't care for CF and $500 higher price tag it entails...

This needs to happen, i feel like it should be pretty easy to make a jig or something to duplicate the y pipe. The shape is pretty basic angles are pretty basic. Its pretty flat for the most part, kinds goes down towards the inlet pipes. Im seriously going to look into making one just gotta work on my aluminum tig skills!

What size custom pipe would you guys want? What piping diameter inlet and what diameter outlet? Would it need to screw in like the stock one?

The difference between the two isn't much and it won't be a problem if the carbon is wrapped completely around the part. Even if it was aluminum and thermal expansion were a big issue, the resin choice and manufacturing methods can solve that quite easily.

I haven been in contact with Loba, emailing , Michael Knaus - LOBA Motorsport GmbH and we are talking about a group buy...NO word on pricing and shipping YET

So these before shipping with out group buy are around 1127.76 each. OEM rs4 ypipe is over 750 plus on back-order most places

i realy would have to smoke a fuck load of meth to spend that on a fucking y pipe you could have one CNC'ed out of titanium and gold plated for that price, well on second thought you could get a hell of a hooker for the night for that money and have a hell of a time

Honestly, I am pretty sure it will delaminate. We've worked with epoxy as well as polyester on a overlay, and while it can be made to work in some situations, the heat changes will for sure make it delaminate in the engine bay.

Fear not though, the SDR pipe will be made available again soon (PM me if you are interested).
