I bought my 2007 A4 2.0T Quattro Non S-Line on October 29th, 2010, with 32,500 miles on it. Original Warranty will be up in July of 2011, and CPO will take over after that. I spent all of November, and December, stock and doing research (primarily here) on the mods that I wanted. I wanted to give it a little time to work the bugs out before I started modding to make sure I wouldn't have to take it back to the dealership right away after installing mods that I'm not sure how they would feel about. Ok the first mod was Debadging the rear. I waited through a whole 10 days of ownership before I did that. My battery died about 3 weeks into ownership and the dealership replaced that at no charge. And my breather valve for the exhaust fumes that get recirculated into the little box in the bumper for emissions was also replaced as it was deemed faulty.
On January 2nd I made a trip up to Imola Motorsports and talked to them about going APR Stage I. I knew that it was on sale at the time, and was impressed with there shop, and there service writer’s (Sam‘s) knowledge, so I ended up getting flashed APR Stage I (Stock, 91, 93, and 100 Octane Modes, with Security Lock Out, and Fault Code Erase) for $640 out the door (A Steal! I would have paid retail, I truly believe that it is worth it). Took about a half an hour and I was on my way. Then I set up an appointment for the next week (January 9th to be exact) to go stage 2. I was waiting on some parts to arrive and wanted to give the car a little time being flashed to see if I would have any problems.
A week and no problems later I had them install an APR Carbonio Cold Air Intake, APR Test Pipe, Apikol Snub Mount, OEM Revision “D” Diverter Valve, and a New South Performance Boost Gauge in a Imola Motorsports Steering Column Mounted Pod. I also had a tank of racing fuel that I filled up with ($6.99 a gallon, $80=Half Tank) the night before everything was installed and I was flashed to Stage II. The guys at Imola did a great job and I think they had a little fun test driving it They took it out for test drives three times, and were pretty excited themselves about the mods. Which really makes a guy feel good when you know that you have “Enthusiasts” working on your car. As Sam was handing me the keys, and shaking my hand, he looked pretty happy and said “You’ve got that race fuel in there don’t you?” I said “Yep, its locked into 100 octane mode still right?” He replied “Yeah, we can smell it (he smiles), we didn’t change the mode so if that’s what you locked it into its still in that. Your gonna really like it. It’s running really good. Have fun.” he chuckled. And I have. Oh yes, I have. LOL.
The torque is so strong with the race fuel tune, that if I am rolling in first gear with my foot completely off of the clutch and punch it, the squiggly line’s (TCS) that signify that the tire’s are spinning turn on. But the tire’s aren’t spinning… The clutch is. Of course the stock clutch was not meant to handle over 100 lb/ft of torque over stock. So I’m not really surprised. In my 91 mode that I run in daily, it does not do that. 100 octane mode = Beast mode. I love it.
About a month later, I installed a 22mm RS4 Rear Sway Bar with a buddy from MNAudi.com’s help. The install went smooth and the car handles much better. Still feels stock. As a matter of fact; the car feels as if it should have come from the factory the way it is now with all of my current mods. I installed my 034 Motorsports Turbo Inlet Hose about a week ago. I am happy with the quality as it feels far superior to the stock application. And it’s good to know that it will not collapse or crack from the increased boost pressure’s from being chipped.
I have a Cupra R Lip that I am debating on weather or not I should have it painted or not. That will be my first looks oriented mod on the car. I also have some Misano Red Side Markers to replace the stock orange reflectors on the front bumper to install also.
