Town Audi - the ultimate stealership
About a month ago I was looking for a CPO B7. After tonnes of searching due to my restrictions of Manual Transmissions that are only in black red or white, I finally found my car at Town Audi in Englewood NJ. My parents had already leased a 2001 A6 from them previously and when they returned it found that Town had changed the mileage/year. This should have been my first caution to not proceed any farther with these people. I decided to keep going because they were in possession of a beautiful Brilliant Black '08 CPO. We traded in an '05 A6 for the A4. During this their used car manager claimed that our A6's hood had been repainted, which it had not been. After escalation to make the deal go through the manager said that he would repair some of the damage that was on the A4. Lo and behold there was a considerable amount. The previous owner was an old man with a small garage. We set up an appointment for the repairs two weeks after delivery of the car. Two weeks went by and I was still madly in love with the B7 and was sad to let it leave my sights to be repaired. They said the repairs would be two days. A week later I drove down to the dealership (I am currently in Fairfield CT, 160 mile round trip) to find that they had not done a majority of the repairs. Not only this but they also put a dent in the hood and the front driver's side fender was misaligned. After a big to do they finally said that they would take the car back and finish what they had started. They told me I would have it back Monday at the latest. As of right now Town Audi and I have had the B7 for equal amounts of time.
So please no one else go to this stealership.

That's tough man. Unfortunately, now that they have your money...the pressure is off. If it were me personally, I wouldn't have had the deal go through until I was satisfied with the repairs. Did you get their promises in writing?

Doesn't need to get it in writing a verbal contract is still legally binding.
Also same thing happened to me, I had my car for a week blasted my cam, follower, and hpfp and then dropped the car off for a week.
Sorry to hear what happened. Stick it to them!

True, but good luck proving that. It's your word against theirs. Don't get me wrong, I'm not siding with the dealership whatsoever. Its just that in this day and age, you've gotta cover your a$$.

I also would consider calling AOA if they have dealerships handling their customers in a fashion such as this.

Audi would have very few dealerships left if customer service were anything of importance to them. I read at least 9 negative dealer experiences for every 1 positive.

I wouldn't go a dealership outside of warranty anyway. There has got to be an indy shop nearby that can help you out.

I've had indy shops screw me worse than the dealership currently is. As retarded and effed up as they are, they can do things that indys NEVER could or would.

Actually its a legally enforceable contract. Exclusions to this are limited to someone being under the influence. Which would then void the contract. This is known as contract law. Communications law and ethics.

All dealers can reset the millage 2, if they do not reach 100km (62miles), e.g. before teh first 100km they can reset to 0 and then again 100km and reset.
The above is to be able to give teh customer a car that has 0km/miles at pickup if they would like that, as all cars will have soem km on them due to the fact that they haev to move form the palnt to teh vessel/train/truck to teh dealer and for pre delivery inspection.
(At least they have had that possibility)

I'd love to see a case of verbal agreement between a salesperson and customer to go court.... how are you going to prove something a salesperson said in court? good luck with that. there are some shady F's out there that do anything to sell a car. At respectable dealerships a verbal agreement doesn't happen and everything is written down.
easily the dealership will just fire the sales person and say "good luck" to the client getting whatever it was that was promised or "verablly contracted"
I realise you studied it in communications law and ethic's class, but good luck trying to prove it....

Snowboardguy989, I work for Town Audi and I would like to address your issues. I can take them to the General Manager and work something out. I'm not familiar with your situation, but I always know that there are 2 sides to every story. I wished you contacted the dealership and tried to take it higher up the chain instead of trying to blast us on the internet. We work hard to set ourselves apart from other dealers and I'm sure the situation can be rectified. Please contact me directly. 201-816-6063 or email me at jkwon@town-motors.com

Bought my car there and flew in from Chicago to find a repaired driver's seat. It had a distinct rip in it at some point which the salesperson neglected to tell me even though he claimed to have done a complete inspection inside and out. They also had a few charges that were not mentioned prior to me flying out. I agree with most opinions here, Town Audi sucks and calling AoA works wonders...

Nikoman, I can't reply to the rip in your seat as I am unfamiliar with your situation. What were the few charges that were not mentioned to you? We are not legally allowed to charge you for something without your consent. Please clarify your situation so I can report back to my superiors. Most of the time, it's the sales person at fault and not necessarily the dealership. But yet, a dishonest sales person's actions reflects the dealership as a whole.
Edit: It's good to see townaudijkwon on Audizine and willing to help OP with his situation.

If they manipulate the km/miles to gain money or profit, then they are contributing to fraud and that is illegal...and will be punished accordingly
For the above if you hit 101km you cannot set it back to 0 again...

Honestly? I don't think you can do much. I'm way out of warranty, it finished at 50k, and I'm at 81k now. To keep it short; I have that brake creaking problem as described in one of my other threads. I've had it while under warranty and problem was never fixed and no I'm not visiting and paying an arm and leg diagnosis fee which is what anchor wanted me to do.

Snowboardguy989, although I fully appreciate your situation, I have now heard the other side of this story. Please allow me to address your concerns.
How did you find out that we changed the mileage? The only way to do so would be to remove the cluster and reprogram which is against the law. I would like to see proof of this. If this is just heresay, then please edit your post as this is libelist.
Your 05 A6 was found to be repainted, were you the only owner? If there was a previous owner it may have been painted prior to you getting the car. We look at many cars all day and a repaint is easily detectable. Please be absolutly sure before writing something in print.
How did you know the previous owner was an old man with a small garage? That seems like a lot of information that even I may not be aware of. I sell these cars and I don't know who the previous owners are nor the size of their garage.
I just received an email from my general manager regarding your issues. We gave you promises in writing and at the end repaired more than we agreed upon. Just to add to this, we also gave you a free detail, full tank of gas and delivered the car to your home.
I understand that you are angry about your situation and if you would like to discuss even further, then please feel free to do so. We said that you would have your car back on Monday at the latest. Today is Tuesday so I apologize for the one day delay.
I don't mean to contridict the things that you have said, but I do work here and I work very hard to make my customers happy as the rest of the staff does. That's why I felt the need to reply to this post. I hope I have addressed all of your concerns. If you have any further issues, our general manager is more than willing to address them directly.

The mileage was a crossed out on a piece of paper and was settled years ago. It was a lease agreement.
I mentioned this thread to one of the dealership guys their that there is a forum that has a bad name for you guys and it was just trying to let you know that there needs to be an improvement on customer service. After reading others experiences and comparing them to my own your biggest problem is your body shop. I was told my car would take two days. It has been two weeks. I understand that it takes time to get things fixed but if everything was done right the first time then this would be a non-issue. It is the lack of respect of time. Some customers have to drive a distance. After their car has taken longer then the quoted time only to find out that the repairs were not carried out correctly. It is easy to see how frustrating a situation like this can be. I am just repeating, It would be fine if it took longer the first time and when it was done it was actually finished. Also my car is coming back Wednesday which is two days past estimated delivery time. Coincidentally also the original quoted time for repairs.
In regard to the old man. By looking at the wear on the interior it was not tell tale female. (lipstick, damaged interior bits, spills) It was not the type of scratches that come from a younger gentleman who would drive a MT Audi. Leaving the older man. The scratches seemed to be due to a small garage in that they were repeated and in the same area. It is not unheard of for sales people to know things about previous clients. If they handled the trade-in or the trade etc.
I thank you for standing up for your dealership. This is very admirable. I hope that you receive only Audizine members because they know they can count on you to be there for them. Not only for the sale but also for the lifetime of their Audi. It will be a huge asset if you can support the enthusiasts. I previously owned a Mercedes and one of the dealerships had a member and a true enthusiast on the forum. He was an extreme asset to that community with his input and knowledge. The intention was to make sure that Audizine as a whole knew what was going on with my situation. You have made the correct move. You have cleared your dealership's name. I never meant to make this a pain in the ass for Town. You have been accommodating and have fairly compensated me. Please get a new body shop though, they are blowing it for you guys.
Kristokes agrees that having you here helps us. +1
coderedpl has been asked if he needs any help +1
These are the interactions that brings Town Audi back to credibility.

management, pure and simple some managers care about customers and would rather get yelled at by upper management then screw over a customer others care about not getting yelled at by their superiors and therefore will dick over customers.....
