Okay, so for me to get the LED Taillights on 2009 A4 Premium Plus, which has bulbs, I have a few options for purchasing LED Taillights?
1) Buy US Spec from 2010-2012 A4s from Europrice.us, which are all the same style and look? I would just plug/install these in and have David do some remote session to Program?
2) Same as above, but I could buy some Euro Spec A4 lights. I don't know the difference in the look of these, someone have pictures? Are these plug and play, with remote coding as well?
3) Some Euro reproductions that have smoke and what not, are these as easy at number 1?
I want to go with the lowest cost, pain free, and error free option. I'm not trying to crack and computer myself, frankly I don't have the time. I also want to make sure that whatever I do can't be screwed up by the Dealer or by APR when I get my car reprogramed. I'm handy with computers and cars, so I have no issues installing the lights myself.
Yeah the only hope is that the Avant lights may fit the Sedan. Thats the current finger crossing hope.
It "appears" that the new Avant facelift tails are the same physical dimensions as the pre-facelift Avant tails due to the fact that none of the panels around them have changed. With that being said how would the facelift avant tails fit pre-facelift sedans? Aren't the current Avant and Sedan tails clearly different? To me, the current sedan tails looks quite a bit larger than Avant tails.
The facelift sedan lights clearly won't fit the current sedan without panel/bumper replacements.
As I see it I don't see any hope for current sedan owners changing to facelift tails. Am I missing something?

This makes me sad as a sedan owner and jealous towards avant owners.

I have to check my wiring. Twice in the last few days, i have had the DIS tell me my right brake light is out.
Mine does that intermittently as well....only the rear passenger brake light. It's done it several times over the past year or so and it comes and goes. The bulb is fine but actually does go out when the message shows up....a restart or wiggle of the housing and it's back on for a day/week/month. I would have probably thought it was due to my woofer in that corner but it started happening before my sub went in.
Obviously not related because you're running LEDs but interesting none the less.
Just a reminder, none of those kits are for North American use. Also the lead time looks like they may still be working on the kits or with individuals to get things set. I think the biggest issue with those kits are the dongles. As David can attest to there are quirks to some cars because of BCM2 differences. Those modules sometimes don't seem to get the right coding or sequence set for each variance properly, then it's one use only and if you make a mistake or it doesn't work you're stuck, just doesn't always work well even though it is easier than having to code each car individually. Regardless I just want people to be aware, the kits from Kufatec are NOT for North American models. There are some vendors who will sell them for NA cars and get customers really stuck, happens more than people might think, so just a PSA not to grab those. I have had to modify harnesses, produce harnesses and get David linked up with people to save their BCM2's and code them properly to make kits that are sold from Europe to North America even though everyone selling them overseas knows they don't work here out of the box.
Now onto better matters, harness production in full swing today and more than a few coupe kits will head out today. Testing of facelift avant taillights for North American market starts today too. If I have enough time I may get test harnesses produced for the avant this weekend as well.

So shady...

w00t! Looking forward to hearing how this progresses.

This is why I don't buy from Kufatec, too many stories of parts not working on NA cars even though they advertise they will, too many stories of the dongle fried and now I can't get them to send me a new one or do anything, and instructions either do not show up or are in German.

I have been monitoring this thread but haven't been really keeping up with every post (22 pages is too much). To Alex@Europrice, I might have missed something but are you guys working on a plug-n-play kit of the facelifted lights?
The refresh Avant retrofit is getting real close. It looks like Alex should have them in my hands by the end of next week and I'll be working with David on the installation and coding shortly after. Stay tuned.
There are no "Full" Led lights for any of our models. They all use a bulb somewhere, depending on location and model it could be just the reverse or fog or turn.

Sorry if I missed this, but has the question if the refresh Avant tail lights will fit the sedan been answered?
GAH, must resist the urge to upgrade my taillights again!

thanks dave
Yes, the new facelift tails. Talk to Alex at Europrice. I ordered a pair on spec through him given that folks are confident that they will work once Cory's experiment with Alex's prototype adapters / harnesses and David's coding is confirmed. Not a cheap mod, but definitely going to be a unique look for NA Avant owners.
I've decided I don't want to so lights anymore. You guys are on your own....
:P Just messin with ya... :) We should be putting these into Cory's car in a few days so this weekend we should have some nice pics of the new Avant lights in and working. I'm confident with being on site for this one that we will have a lot less pain and more success to post.
As a side note I just bought a huge world map for my room and some pins so I can track all the countries I've done coding for, it's neat to think of how far my work has reached over the last few years. Whats even more cool is when I search for help now for the new VW project how often I find links on other forums to my site and back to here for things I've done. My site overall haul is taking longer than expected but hopefully I can get some new stuff for people in the coming months.

I'm still loving my NA bulb tails your programmed to ROW with my amber signal mod! Would love LED upgrade someday - hopefully sedan will have facelift that will work on my B8!
You do GREAT WORK - thanks again! If I hit the lotto I'll make sure to drop you a lil something in a donation again! Keep it up (the good work that is!)

Some good news and some bad on the refresh tails for the A4. The good news is that they work perfectly on the Avant (so far)....but the bad news is that it has been confirmed that the Avant tails will NOT work on the current sedans.
David came over today and worked his installation and programming magic and we have success!! There are some details/changes that I need to discuss with Alex but after some tweaking everything is behaving properly.
They even look better than the originals when turned off but when lit they are simply incredible!!!
More pictures/videos to follow but here is a nice one with David doing some coding. A nice change for him being able to do them in person compared to the blind coding he's used to.
