I also have a PM in to Alex. Unfortunately, there were only 3 of us - not nearly enough to bring the price down. I'm hoping we can get a few more in on this.

Great job David, Alex, and all the other people who have helped this project proceed around the globe. I'm just waiting on my Euro light switch so I can finally get my rear fog lights programmed on my NA S5.. My only concern would be if the coding was deleted during a service visit like the ambient lighting, lap timer, seat belt reminder, etc. mods are. Any ideas so we don't have to keep bothering you for repeat coding?
David, I've been emailing both you and Alex. I am so excited about this swap and all the hard work you both have done! The only thing holding me back is the $1k in price. I've just ordered a bunch of stuff for my car like Spacers, under-door LEDs, getting my wheels powder-coated, etc. So that there is about $800+ alone. Alex has my email so please keep me updated if you need another person to reach that threshold to lower the price - I'll also check this thread. I'll definitely do it - matter of time and funds!
So far it appears to be 4x sedans (everyone wants the 10x mark) and 1-2x avant. The way to get the best discounting is to get 10x of one specific kit, meaning the sedan. So I will be posting up a separate thread here, group purchase section and on other forums as well. Once those are up if those of you are interested want to spread the word please do.
now that the A4 is done, is this also going to be available for the A5? I can't wait! My standard lights are almost 2 generations old, even though my car is barely 2yrs old!!! :(
Well if someone wants to step up and join into the group purchase as an A5, S5 tester I can do some discounted pricing on a kit. Be aware the A5, S5 kit is the most expensive and it does contain a BCM module that is not needed, however you could resell it back to the RoW on Ebay or around these parts for those who may need that module. Let me know if you are interested in being a tester for the A5, S5 kit and I can PM you some pricing.
So once again the hero lives and shines on! David just got done programming my NA bulb tails to the Euro config! Simply amazing! And he's an hour a head of me so it's 11:30 and he was still willing to help me program my car. My next step is jumping over to his site for a little donation action! Thank you David! We'll be working together again when I get the cash to upgrade to LED. Cheers!
Nice work David! Quick question: I have a 2009 Premium Plus with bulb, and I'm wondering if it's possible to convert the turn signal to amber. I'm not looking so much into a full LED conversion, so is it possible to just convert the turn signal? Thanks!

From what I understand and someone please correct me if I'm wrong - but the ROW (Rest of World) Audi's have a clear lens where the signal is and NA (North American) cars don't - now this can be confusing because when you look at the car it appears to be a clear lens here in the states BUT there's a red lens hiding right in front of the bulb. Therefore, it appears red when signal and braking (mine only comes on now for the signal). So I have the same question as you - maybe put an amber light in there and it could work - or would it make the color turn a pink color? Red lens with Amber light? Sorry for rambling - but the answer is "Yes." Theres just one bulb back there and you can swap out this bulb. I like this online site for all my lighting: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/ Look around and they have an LED bulb thats amber in color and it's Error Free!
I think the reason this hasn't been brought up is because of cost. I think the EU lenses are cheaper and contain the Orange turn signals. But of course it can be done all you have to do is make an adapter harness.

So I assume the US LED tails would be more expensive than jumping into the group buy for euro?
Like I said earlier, I would take the US tails over the euro tails - I like the LED turn signal even though it is red... (Kinda like BMW, which is not bad IMO).
If I change the yellow bulb in the LED tails for some kind of LED replacement, would be be able to cancel out the error (if I receive one)?

I have eCode LED tails with incandescent bulbs (amber lenses) for turn signals in my S5. You CAN do this - BUT the greater concern is light output. No current LED replacement for the bulb (type 921 - 18 watt) has near enough output in lumens to provide decent daytime visibility for a turn signal. In fact the most powerful ones available today (which are orange/amber btw) are only amount 1/10th as bright in any color. Model year 2012 will see quite a bit of revised rear light design for the Audi line, many within the current sheet metal - you may want to see what will show up and fit before investing today...

The A4 did not get a LED tail light upgrade for 2012...
As for light output, I understand... (I can live with the bulbs) However, the turn signal looks pretty bright in this video:

Yes they are called BA9S. I bought a pair a while ago and test fitted them. They work but they throw an error as expected.

^This was my immediate conclusion. I tested them during the day and they were just not noticable enough.

It might be worth waiting and see if the 2012 version tail lights (for the coupe/A5) could be used. If I upgrade today, I'll be "old" again in 6 months...hmmm...

also, I would prefer the NA flashing LEDs as my signals instead of the euro version.

The pictures of the 2012 A4 still show the original LED design....

So just to clarify, is there a specific process I could follow for converting a 2009 bulb tailight with a red turn signal to an amber one? Do I need to replace the bulb, or do I need to replace the lens? And after that, is there coding required? I'm not looking for a full LED conversion. I'd be happy with an amber bulb signal. As long as the turn signal becomes amber, I'd be happy Thanks in advance!
While waiting for the NHL playoff game to start, I've just read through this entire thread - hadn't been keeping up with it for a bit - my brain now hurts
Am somewhat surprised that no one noticed/responded to David's post #427 on 4/20/11 where he 'mentioned' he's getting married soon.
A huge CONGRATULATIONS David
Assume this means you'll need to remove the 1/4 of your ride now in the house back to the garage
Also somewhat surprised re relatively small number of Euro/ROW LED kits interest on Alex@EuroPrice's companion thread. I am committed for A4 Sedan.
Hope to see many more A4 Sedan & Avants soon.
Cheers

Will be meeting up with stubek on May 3 at 5 PM PST to remote with David to scan my US B8 P+ '09 Sedan bulb coding.
Then change to bulb EuroSpec.
Have A4 LEDs purchase confirmed with Alex - another scan needed when installed?
On board all the way
Cheers

Sounds great Greg, I'm going to be coding with David either tonight or tomorrow... I haven't received anything from Alex, I guess he is taking time off for Easter...
I can't wait to get LEDs, and unlike some people, I have 0 concern when it comes to the David coding situation... Whatever, as long as we are still at 10x, I don't really care...

To clarify what David & I had mentioned - The USA/North American Audi A4/B8 tails have what looks like a clear lens where the signals are but they aren't. There's a red lens hiding inside the housing, right in front of the bulb. You would have to remove this somehow. I ordered a pair of Amber LED's for my signals and when I take off my tails to change the bulbs, I'll look to see what the options are. I just might stick the Amber LED bulb in there and see what happens. I'll let you know. Hoen has Amber incandescent bulbs - even the chromium bulbs: http://www.hoen-usa.com/cr.htm
If you want the Error Free LED bulb, go here: http://store.ijdmtoy.com/No-Load-Res...5-led-2ghj.htm
Good luck and I'll post what I find out with my new bulbs.
And CONGRATS Sir David! I've been out-of-town and hadn't read that yet! Are you doing a Destination Wedding or a Traditional? I just got married last year and we did it in Negril, Jamaica! All inclusive resort and very nice - highly recommend that or anywhere in the Carribean.

Ah cool, I'd love to see your result. I'll be fine with a bulb turning signal as long as it's amber. I'd also like to know how visible your LED ambers turn out to be in terms of brightness. Thanks for your help.
