    245/35-19 issues?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I recently purchased a set of 19x8.5 35mm VMR rims, and am looking on tirerack.com for a set of summer tires. VMR recommended a 245/35-19. On tirerack, it says that this is an aggressive fitment, and may need adjustments to fit.

Anyone running this size have any problems? Or did they fit just fine?

    Any information would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

You're going to have issues, Fender Pull if it's lowered for sure, was thinking of going that route until I did some asking around. Should've done some research before you bought, not after. Just sayin

My car isn't lowered. Will I still have problems?

I probably should have done more research, but I got a good deal on them. Plus, I'm a girl, and I just buy pretty things when I see them! :)

if its not a problem, it will be crazy close. 245/35R19 is doable (barely) on a 8" (et35) wheel... that extra 1/2" might give you problems.

That said, a 235/35R19 should fit just fine. (and is also the closest match to the OE rolling diameter.)

Classic, I'm usually just told to sit and look pretty, so you have one on me.

If you're not lowered, it Might be ok. I'd go 235 to be safe

Whoa, these responses so far have been way off the mark. I run 245/35/19 19x8.5 et35 on a LOWERED B7 A4 and have no rubbing issues, you will absolutely be fine. You may rub on a big dip with passengers in the car but that's about it.

The 245/35/19 will work just fine. Pay close attention to the load index rating on the tires. 235/35/19 Continental extremecontact dws are rated xl 91 y but the S4 requires 93 Y which only comes in the 245/35/19 Continental extreme.

Thanks for all the information! Jengel451 nearly gave me a heart attack! :) I was freaking out trying get my tirerack order put on hold until I talk to the installer.

I am going with Pilot Sport PS2s, which have the 93Y rating. Now, I am just waiting to hear back from the installer on which size to get. Taking it to a shop that specializes in servicing Audis. I'm sure they'll be able advise me on whether to get the 245/35 or the 235/35.

For the record, I have 245/35/19's on stock suspension with no real problems. I had a couple of instances of slight rubbing, but nothing lately.

Thanks for the pictures and a sigh of relief! I think I am going to go with the 245/35 unless the installer recommends otherwise.

Channad, me likey! I got the V709s in hyper silver. I am stoked to get the them on! I'd give my right arm for the snow to melt! Are those stock wheel caps? I'd rather rock Audi caps instead of the VMR caps. I'm just not sure that the colors are going to match. If that's the setup you have, looks like a perfect match!

MOST people run 235's. 245's will lead to rubbing issue if you decide to lower the car a considerable amount. you will also need to roll your fenders if you lower it a lot. get the 235's!!. I dont know why so many people keep sayin 245

VMR says to get 245's because the beefier tire will protect their wheels when their customers hit big bumps and they get less complaints about bent wheels....ooop the cat is outta the bag!!!

My car is lowered on coils with 245/35/19. I have barely a one finger space all the way around. I NEVER rub, unless I go over an extreme bump. You need to unscrew the front fender screws. If you place your hand in the front wheel fender, touch the top middle and you'll feel the fender screw. Take those out. The key to 245s are tire brands and the tread width. There are tons of 245/35 tires, but the TREAD widths are different. Tire rack has tread width specs to help determine the most narrow ones.

I'm running....255/35-19 On RS4 Reps...and I'm lowered on H & R 's as well. Only rubbing issues i had were the little knobby things inside the wheel well...too those out and no issues. Search my name for my setup on an earlier post.

I would highly recomend the Conti DWS especially since you live in Minnesota where I am assuming you get snow quite a bit. They are very good in all conditions.

The sidewalls are a little softer than other tires but you are getting a tire that does pretty well in all situations. So you give up performance in some areas to gain performance in others.

There is plenty of snow here. However, I don't drive my baby in the snow. :)

The brand of tires also plays a part in this.
I run 245's and am lowered. I never had any issues with rubbing while running Conti Sport Contact's. I recently switched to Sumitomo's and the rubbing started.
Even though the tires are technically the same size, the actual shoulder widths are different.

Having said that, I raised the rear a little (still hardly any gap) and now only rub on the most extreme dips.

Clever, but far from the truth!

We recommend 245/35/19 for the B7 platform as it has been proven there is room to run this size tire without issue. On earlier chassis, such as the B6 and B5, other tire sizes may be advisable but as you can see, 245/35/19 on a stock suspension car will give you the maximum amount of rubber without any sort of issues.

There wouldn't necessarily be any problem going with 235's instead, but keep in mind there is really no reason not to go with a 245/35/19 on a stock suspension B7.

By the way, great pictures everyone!

edit: Forgot to mention, for anyone wishing to run factory Audi Caps, the part number for a perfect fit will be 4B0 601 170 A

i`m running that size , the fitment is perfect , the only issue is in the front when the suspension bottoms out the front tires rub on something very sligthly, I have to remove the front wheels to see if something can be trimed in there, other than that no more issues, back no rub and front no rub at full lock or normal driving so i`m sure you will be fine ( oh my car is lowered not much tho )

Did you take out the screws at the 12 o'clock position in your wheel well? I'll bet that's what you're rubbing on.

It is very common on many Audi's/VW's to remove/trim the fender liner screws in the front wells to allow for a few more mm of clearance, often all that is needed.

Also, keep in mind, with a 235/35/19 tire, you need to keep the tires inflated at higher PSI, to be safe. The front weight of the S4 is far more than the rear. A 245/35/19 tire provides more than enough support for the front, than a 235/35/19, which only leaves you about ~150lb, of room. Ask TireRack, they'll tell you why.

New to the forum. Two weeks ago I picked up a (B7) 2008 A4 3.2L with S-Line (Appearance Package). So the car came with the 5 spoke S-Line wheels. I've always loved the look of the S4/RS4 (even though it's been done by so many blah blah blah, I still love the look of those 7 spokes) and luckily found a full set of the same 7 Spoke OEM wheels today that are stamped with Audi Circles on the back (trust that means OEM I hope) and measure 19x8.5. All 4 wheels also have the OEM Audi TPMS. The guy who sold me the wheels didn't know what year/model Audi they came off. He just knew the guy traded them in towards other wheels. Since I'm on the stock B7 suspension with my 3.2, it sounds like I shouldn't have any rubbing or fitment issues. The wheels are in great shape (maybe 7 or 8 out of 10) but I plan on having a wheel guy refinish them to be like new condition before the wheels get any tires mounted. I gather the best tire size to go with is 245/35/19. I live in Florida and have no idea what the best options for tires would be or where to necessarily buy them. The car only had 28,000 miles from the original owner and was kept in "like new" condition. The dealer put on all four brand new "NEXEN" tires on the stock wheels. I gather NEXEN are not the tires of choice for anyone other than a dealer who wants to make it look like a car has tire tread on it for CHEAP or anyone who likes to spend nothing on tires and only get ok performance when going straight!... My expectation is that an upgrade from NEXEN on the stock 18" wheels to some premium tires on the 19"x8.5" will provide a noticeable improvement. This is a daily driver for work and sometimes taking clients out for lunch etc. So I'm not trying to go too crazy with tweaking it out (lowering etc.) as much as I'd otherwise love to. Appreciate anyone's $.02 or $.10 to the open questions... (THANK YOU!!)

I'm looking at 245/35/19s. Could you tell me the offset of your wheels? I've been told also that I'm to remove a screw on the inside top of the front fender wells.
