guru is talking about his statement that the IM is going to fail under boost not about the cutouts.
I didn't say, is going to fail. I said have been known to fail, it all depends on material thickness and weld quality. And as for flow, I have seen CFD data on intake manifold design where rounded corners flow much better than square corners. My buddy is designing manifolds for both VW/Audi applications right now and I have seen a lot of the inside workings of designing one.
Not saying it won't work though. I have a square manifold on my R32, but after reading what I have, I am not too thrilled on even my own choice.
OK I have to admit being a VW guy, I haven't looked at S4's too much. I just looked up the stock intake manifold and feel kinda silly now about the square shape. I still don't think it is the best design though.

Wooooooooo!!! Looks crazy dude.. Where is that cutout going to dump to, is it going to turn up? It might be dangerous for flames to be shooting out of that sucker when you hit the two step, shift, or let off the throttle fast.. I can't wait to see this thing haul ass..

I see the pictures a couple pages back with the 45 angle off of that cutout.. That's going to be bananas.. Burns is making me a 3-4" long aluminum transition that is vbanded.. I will have a 4" aluminum DP back exhaust.. I need to have a muffler for the street class, it could be side exit, but not sure there is much room for that on these cars. I don't see a 4" with just for looks muffler being a restriction anyway.. The true street class rules are very enforced too, Ive seen them measuring turbine wheels at the races. You need 2 front seats, full oem class with functioning windows, oem dash, oem firewall, No meth injection allowed, etc... It's going to be fun though for sure, I hope you come down, your car should pass for that class too.
35-37psi would be a sweeeet spot for that turbo. 40 would be amazing from it, intoxicating sound. Dom, you upgrade to the 66 cea turbine wheel?
You think about wrapping that pipe under the manifold, or at least sending it to calico, jet hot, or swain for sine nice coating? Calico is nice, it's black, and their turnaround is a couple days.
Now is not a good moment, I have no clue what my powerband will be.
I'm planning for a full 4 speed dogbox with custom gearing and a 5th tall stock gear.
Since I have extensive worrk on the induction side, my powerband me be affected, I can rev it up on paper and still make power over 8k, i guess after all the tuning done, Ill calculate the ration i need.
