Did something break on the trans or is this preventative for when you add more power? Also who's doing the rebuild? Details? I'm sure I'll need this info at some point lol...and being in Long Island, CT is within the realm of where I'll drive for good, fairly-priced work.
I think i can answer that. *clears throat* Well, his 1st and 2nd synco's went bad, so we drove down to agrons(amc) house/shop where he rebuilt a tranny. We took the rebuilt tranny back to a shop who swapped vinnys bad tranny out for the good one agron rebuilt. Then when vinny goes back down to agrons, he will give agron his broken tranny, which he will rebuild for his car. The tranny vinny put in his car has a new 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. Agron is lives near Thomaston, ct which is fairly close to the NY boarder.

Common 1-2 shift collar issue with these trannys. Agron is not a paying advertiser so contact him directly if you need his services. But I can 100% vouch for him in regards to tranny rebuilds and all the labor associated with it. He can have an engine out faster than it takes me to swap to my winter wheels lol. He's the man

Old: Used to just stack the wheels on top of each other
New: Keep the off the ground, avoiding damage and flat spots
On the average 8" wheel, she'll fit 5 across and 3 sets high. We made it wide enough to fit up to a 10-11" wide wheel... You know, just in case
But for now, my 4 9.5's fit across the bottom with enough room for a 5th 8" if I needed. Should be perfect no matter what kind of wheels I get in the future.
How much was it to redo your interior? Interested!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah kracka, Chris is right. I picked up a non-running parts car for $1500 as a donor car. I then removed my grey interior, put the black into my car, then put the grey into the parts car, then resold the parts car for $1500... seriously... did the black interior swap for free technically. Thats the best way to go.
Full timing belt kit (t-belt, acc belt, water pump, thermostat, tensioners, idlers, misc seals)
Fuchs tranny fluid
Brake seals, front and rear, all four calipers will be rebuilt
Snub mount w/ cage
Inner/outer CV boot kits
SSAC DP's (not really maintenance but to me, will prolong turbo life... sooo lol)
Also had Tony revise my EPL tune to account for DPs (Stage 2 tune, deleted rear O2's and EGTs)
Huge thanks to Scotty@Advanced for sourcing all my parts for me. Cut the price down a ton compared to other "3 letter" companies out there commonly used for these types of things.
Still want to order a silicon hose kit since I'm going to have EVERYTHING apart lol, I want to replace them while its easily accessible. We'll see if money permits.
Sure, but we need to fit in my head lights at some point. Did you get a cam lock?
Yeah, we definitely need to get those headlights in. And no, I didn't get the cam lock bar, I'm hoping to borrow EPL's for the weekend I plan on doing the stuff.
Side note, for the thread content. Also ordered all new slotted rotors front and rear, but chose the B7 300mm rear setup to go with my B5S4 caliper setup. So also will be ordering to 034 300mm adapter plate to go with it. My brake setup will be complete once and for all. New rotors, new pads, freshly sealed and painted calipers, fresh fluid, upgraded rear bbk. Shouldn't need to touch this setup for a while!
This was a good read so far, and it's comforting to know there is someone in Thomason who does transmissions! Keep it up, your making me want an a6 avant!
Quite an interesting read! I wanted to ask if you ordered the "Error Code Eliminators" as well when ordering your DDM HID (fog) Slim kit. I am not sure if I need them; but just want to be safe.
Thanks.

We don't need them for our cars. The DDM slim kit is plug and play
If you get these for your headlights too, consider the 55w kit over the 35w kit. the 55w slim kit warms up super fast compared to my 35w fogs. Sadly, you need to order 35w for fogs or high beams because you will burn the reflector bowl in the fog or high beam housing.

Thanks a lot. Yes, I saw that caveat about the 55w bulbs burning out the reflector. I will order the 6000K 35w fog kit. For headlights, I already ordered depo projectors (with euro clear corners) off eBay.

Those will also come with a clear euro projector lens which will give you cleaner output. But you'll need H7 bulbs for the low beams on those. Your OEM HID's won't work unless you swap the OEM D2S projectors into the Depo housings.
Correct. I asked for the complete /compatible kit to replace my OEM-halogen headlights; so this is a complete swap. This is the headlight I got (complete in a D2S housing).

I am the proud owner of the Red Audi he used for his swap. I bought that along with a black 2000 6mt car with a blown motor. I took the pcm, trans, pedals, wiring harness and a ton of other parts to get going. Still working on getting all my problems worked out on it. The main one being I can't communicate with either of the abs modules I have tried so I can't bleed out my brakes. Been driving it for a month or so now. Paint wheels and airbags are in the works for this summer if my soon to be born sun and house don't take all my money. I will get a pick up when I get a chance. It's funny seeing my car in one of the first shots on this thread.
Those headlight ebi listed are the ones I bought and stuck in my car since I had 4 headlights that where all broken. I like them besides the bulbs they sent with them would not work with the stock ballasts.

Hey! Glad you made it over to Audizine. (Lot more C5 action here than Vortex)
About the ABS thing, check the C5A6 section, there was a recent thread regarding an ABS issue which might have your resolution. I'm clueless when it comes to that particular system.
On a side note, do you have any current pics of the car? Curious how its coming along. You probably have one of the only prefaclifted A6's, with an S-Line interior package lol. Plus you being in autobody, I can't wait to see how that car looks when its exterior is done proper!
Anyway, hope to see more of you around here. Maybe we can meet up again at Waterfest this year if you make it down (its probably a big drive for you, but if you make the drive, let me know).
Those are actually very nice (don't like the halos but you can always leave those unplugged)
Loop back once they arrive, let me know how the quality is and if you like them.
Hey Vince, as a follow-up, I've had the depo headlights for a couple weeks now; they do look good but definitely not at par with the OEM headlights - plus no auto-levelling which is quite a bummer. Thus, it's the never ending question of form-vs-function, aesthetics-vs-utility. I just finished polishing/wetsanding the OEM headlights - may swap 'em back in, after doing the clear-corner mod.
One question I have has to do with the current OEM D2S projectors. Would replacing the bulbs with something like the Philips Ultinon 6000k d2s HID Xenon 85122WX suffice? Or do I get a complete HID kit (with ballast, bulbs, etc) and bypass the ballasts on the stock headlights?
Thanks.

I got rid of the OEM ballasts and bulbs as soon as I got my car and went with a DDM 55w kit. Its been running great with 0 issues for several years now.
On another note, I don't think the lack of auto-leveling is something I'd miss, but regardless, I always have a tough time giving up a feature.
