Hey guys just want to know if anyone is experiencing the same problem as me.
I dont find that my seat heater is hot enough. is there any way to increase the heat via vag com? or something
that's funny - i've had a couple of friends complain that their asses were on fire!
my buddy's 2004 impala has the best seat heaters ever. when your nuts start to burn with your caboose, you know you're in heaterland.
not sure of any vag-mods for this though, sounds like it'd be limited to the hardware rather than software modding.

Setting it on 6 gets pretty hot to me although everyone is different in their perception of hot/cold. You could also have a bad heater. Try your passenger seat and see how they compare.
I run setting 1 and it is warm enough most of the time.
As mentioned, I would check passenger side and if there is a difference, get the dealer to look at it.

Mine (2010 B8) is pretty weak when it was compared to my friends 2009 B8. Not sure why but didn't think much of it since I haven't been using it...probably will take it in and have it checked since ski season is approaching.
I like putting the passenger seat heater on 6 before my buddy gets in....then he wiggles around and looks all uncomfortable but doesn't want to say anything. I do this....in August...in Houston, lol.
I wish the passenger side would automatically go off upon startup. I hate the fact that if I don't remember to to turn it off it's just putting pointless wear on the heating element. Anyone know a setting or something in vcds for this?

In my experience, if nobody is sitting in the passenger seat it does not heat up. I tried being a nice guy and getting the seat warm for my wife by turning it on about 5 minutes before picking her up, but it did not start to warm up until she got in the car.

Thats nice to know. I never actually felt the seat but that actually makes sense since there is probably a weight sensor in the seat for the airbag. I guess they just use that signal to turn on/off the heat too.
Too hot to handle on 6 for a long time! Setting it on 3 usually does the job.

We have both a 2009 and 2010 and the seats in the 2009 get much warmer than the ones in the 2010.
I have had VAG cars for the last 15 years, and the 2010's are pathetic!
I believe that the dealer told me that Audi made this change for 2010 for some reason.

Actually, I just went out to test my passenger seat heater without an actual person on it and it still got warm. For some reason, the Canadian spec B8's don't come with airbag indicators below the warning hazard symbol. Weird.

I set mine to 4, but it only goes down to 40F here. Perhaps you got used to it, or wearing thick pants? When I set it to 6, it gets very toasty. Do you have the a/c heater on too?
i don't understand why ppl would complain about it being too hot. why don't they just turn it down instead of complain about it? i think mine are a little weak. my B5 was too hot at 6 but it also warmed the seat up much faster.

In the early morning (6AM-6:30AM) depending on where you are located, I'd suggest setting driver seat at 4 to 5 initially.
If earlier, set to 6 than adjust downward depending on your commute length
Have no idea where to set passenger seat, as I've never sat there there in the cold AM.
The driver's seat heats rather rapidly at 4-5 setting early in the morning IMO.
My buns are well warmed when I arrive at work after my 1/2 mile commute
Suggest you play with the heat settings as winter/cold progresses - it's a reasonably easy adjustment.
Just needs a daily adjustment depending on your conditions
Cheers

I was curious so I tested mine on the way home yesterday(actually felt it this time) and the passenger side definitely heated up with nobody sitting in it. I do have the airbag on/off button. Weird...maybe there's a setting in vag com for this.
^ To that point, in the A4 Avant, I turned the passenger side on this morning before the wife got in. It was warm to the touch by the time she was ready to get in.
FWIW, my S4 Avant is the same way - crank up the seat heaters on the passenger side, and it's warm to the touch, if not downright hot!
WTF, I'm gonna have to try again. Maybe I didn't allow enough time between turning on the heater and when she got in. Or maybe she just didn't want to give me credit for doing something nice!

Interesting, I was recently thinking about this as well.
While my B7 seats would get very hot (I wouldn't go over 3 or 4) - my B8 can be on 6, no problems. I will have to try sitting in the passenger seat to see how hot that one gets.
Any chance there's correlation between hvac temp and seat heater temp? My wife's old honda used to get noticably hotter when the hvac temp was up (say, 72 versus 68)

Pretty sure you are wrong on this one. None of the Audi's I've owned worked the way you described.

I have a 2010 a4 prem plus, my seat hardly gets warm. I drive around on 6 to feel anything (I live in WA). My GF has a '10 prem plus also, her entire seat heats up, I think the upper portion of my drivers side seat does not work :( . My passenger side does, and gets much warmer Bummskees
On another note, the backrests don't seem to heat up either in the B8, is that correct?
They did in my Touareg, and that was real nice.
I am having the same problem. When I bought my car at 19xxx miles the upper portion worked great, now it doesn't at 36xxx. Gonna take it into the dealer. Anyone else take this issue to the dealer yet???
