Went today to get base run before any tuning begins. 2010 dsg. Stock. 68 degrees. Perfect night for racing. Ran like shit.

13.70 at 100 was best. Getting off line good. 1.9 60 ft. No launch control. Only gaining 19 mph in back half. 103k miles. Wondering if carbon buildup killing trap speed. Very disappointing. Next step is to check buildup.

Running the quarter mile without launch control is what is killing your results. It is night and day difference.

Time yes, trap speed no. Trap speed shouldn't be too far off a launch control car. There will be a difference but not too much. The reviews on non launch control cars were still trapping 105-107. 100 is not good. I'm doing plugs this week and running again. They may have never been changed. Checking into history

You are right. Launch control wouldn't explain the trap. 1.9 isn't totally horrible on a stock car but you should be able to do 1.8x. I agree to check all the usual suspects. Carbon deposits. Fuel filter. Plugs.

Absolutely. And if it makes you feel any better primetime who is a member who has one of the fastest cars in our forums had his launch control disabled on his transmission program and he routinely catches a 1.6x or better.

He did that so he could launch it at his desired RPM. It is still the equivalent to launch control. He's not just starting at idle. he launches it anywhere from three to five thousand depending on what he its had done to it over the years.

And I wasn't trying to insult anyone. I just don't see the point in going to a drag strip and not using a factory feature on your car that produces a better time. That's all. If you don't want to use launch control and run a slower time that is your prerogative.

I've made probably 50 passes with and without LC (with a equal mix on the stock and APR DSG tunes too). With LC is more consistent for me as I can almost always hit something around a 1.7 as long as I can get some traction. At the same time, the APR DSG tune is more prone to hang-up when I use LC (I have not tried the updated tunes at the drag strip yet). With that said, if I nail the launch using the primetime/upswing method, it yields a better time than I can get with LC down into the 1.6's. The issue for me is that only happens maybe 1/4 times for me so I guess I need to practice....

Right on. I'm just presenting an alternative view. Thats not how i've ever heard the "mash n go"primetime method described as him revving it to 5k rpm. its pretty well documented as him mashing it off the line. Either way, when you actually have launch control disabled you lose the ability to free rev the car while it is in drive and your foot on the brake. It is launch control that allows this. Even if you do the upswing method you have engaged LC. If he had the launch control LIMITER removed this is different and would allow you to launch at literally any rpm including it would allow you to accidentally overrev the car while in LC mode. Thats not what I would call deactivating LC though and ive never heard of a tuner doing this but certainly could be and perhaps it was just described wrong. For me, I have to launch as low as I can now in the rpm band or I just spin. Track prep has been terrible at PBIR lately. Keep in mind the RS7 has no launch control either. Looks like Myallroad doesnt have LC anyways as a 2010 car but some folks may want to save the car from a little driveline shock at the 1/4 mile and I was just saying thats cool and to not be discouraged that you can still do a reasonably good 60ft without LC. Heck, before this decade I dont remembers most any Audi car with launch control.

1.9 60 without launch control is not bad on stock car imo. Reason I posted my times was to show the issues after the launch. It's being held back. Problem isn't the launch. Still ran an ok time. Just losing trap speed to where it should be. Plugs being changed this weekend and I'll rerun. Then tuning can begin.

I’m launching the car at 2500rpm on LC. Car is hooking hard with no tire spin at all. Tires are stock Contis...

Any suggestions on how high I could increase the launch RPM in order to get the 60’ loser?

Didn’t see it in ur mod list above. Do you have logs of the car? Also 80F is quite hot so that’s not helping your cause. You’re in stage 1 territory with that ET and trap, well not far off.

I have some logs from last year which I sent to EPL. Yeah, 80F is pretty hot and right now it’s over 90F in Indianapolis, ugh. What wasn’t really helping me was the waterbox that they have and that you couldn’t go around

Good for 11.8 on 93 tune with 93 fuel, 11.6 on 104 tune with 105 fuel.
