Awesome. If the vids include the dash we can determine whether your DSG short-shifted.
x2 on the LC - it's very finnicky. I've had my problems w/ it as well.

Even though the MPH never really changed that much I noticed as it got cooler the times got slightly faster... my last run of the night I effed up the launch and just ran from a dig and the 60 ft time suffered to the tune of .4 seconds... still ran a 13.7 however... 9 seconds is about the time it took to reset the LC... on one run i actually noticed that when i staged 1st against my friend with a VR-T... he took his time staging knowing the LC can be finicky. That time however it worked properly right away and as the tree went green, the car started to pull rpm and completely bogged on the line... I am familiar with trying to get the LC sequence down properly having had a MK5...
and Primetime... thanks for the offer but it isn't necessarily at all... I would actually like to get out more it's just that our track is 100km away and its tough to leave work early to battle rush hour and make it to the track...

Yeah no clue on LC... I would like to play with an 11 too see how it works... Your just not making the mph you shoud and too your point falling hard on the top half of the track... Your 1/8 trap is off by 3-4mph Do you have a vagcom cable? I would love to see you log the runs...

Lou, I honestly haven't went since I have gotten them... rain, work, and events(72 and older only cars and bikes only) that I wasn't permitted to run in... Was thinking about going Wed. after I leave the office but it is supposed to be mid 90's here! Sat. will be in the 70's so I may go then... Also, trying to get some things setup to get my exhaust situation taken care of... No doubt a 11lbs per wheel loss will net me something...

Went to the track tonight. I'm pissed. I couldn't launch the damn thing to save my life. How do you guys launch the MTs? Let's just say it's a miracle I was even in the 13s :( And I do know how to race, been doing it for over 10 years, but this car is giving me a hard time....

Sorry, can't help you there on this car... I have experience on other AWD stick cars but have only driven a B8 stick car for a few hours and didn't try to cut any 60's! LOL I would PM S|Quattro|4 or sobz as they both have manuals and have run pretty good times... How did you launch? I believe you can rev to 3500-4000rpm and hold it there I would then probably side step the clutch vs dumping it... again this is just my thoughts and someone with real experience could tell you better... You could also hit up Richib86 as he has a manual car as well... What track and how were the conditions? Don't worry about the times just gives you something to shoot for the next time out and improve on... Keep us posted... later ron

Seems to be a streak of bad news lately at the strip for our cars. How many passes did you make? Did you turn off ESP/ASR?
I'm hopefully heading back to the track on Saturday - will post times asap if I make it out there.

I only got to make two passes because I got there late. One time trial and then we went into elimination rounds, and of course I lost. And yes, I turned ESP off. My MPH was good, 105. I'm going to try and make it out in the next week and get a lot better. I'm mad at the car, lol. As of right now, I miss my Jeep SRT8.

Hey, would definitely like to know conditions and how you launched the car...there are a lot of factors when launching the MT S4...:)
With proper launch you should be at high 12's low 13's

Just make sure you turn off the ASR! The Anti Slip. The ESP is just the Electronic Stability such as around corners and under/over steer. You can turn off the ASR and leave the ESP on - just push the button quickly and it's off - you have to hold down the button for 3 seconds to turn off the ESP.

Here are some details of my night.
LAST - 2011/06/15 - 14.055 @ 100.89 MPH - 2.144 - 8772 - DSG - Stock - 91 - forza1976 http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3264/...79b54c73_b.jpg
5 runs and the best came on the last run of course as the temps were dropping. I can't believe how heavy this car is and still manages some respectible times at my altitude.
A few facts:
Bandimere Speedway (Denver CO) phsical altitude 5800'
Temp: 79F
Baro: 29.66
Humidity: 21%
DA: A whopping 8772' above sea level!!!
Some might see this as a damn slow run but at this altitude we get killed so I'm actually shocked. I weighed the car with me in and 3/8 of a tank of fuel and it came to 4160lbs. (91 octane run)
With a bit cooler temp and a less kick in the ass DA I can get this car to run in the 13's stock.
I have no modifications.

Ok, ASM777 and I ran at California Speedway today and had some fun. I was able to get 3 runs in and he was able to get 4.
My best,
15 - 2011/07/16 - 13.676 @ 102.84 - 2.137 - DSG - Stock - 91 - K1speeder - Time slips (run 2)

I am in the car with the GoPro and ASM777 is in the Quartz. He has the APR 91 tune and had a better reaction time than me on this run.

Thanks K1speeder for lending me a helmet! First time out to the drap strip and a fun experience.
Was a bit disappointed with the times on the first 3 runs since I have the APR 91 tune but feel a bit better after my final and fourth run (though I still need to improve my R/T quite a bit!) =)
My best,
## - YYYY/MM/DD - Time @ MPH - 60FT - DA - TM - Tune - Fuel - Username - Confirmation
13 - 2011/07/16 - 13.264 @ 104.99 - 1.941 - Not Sure - DSG - APR 91 - 91 - asm777 - Time slip (Run #4 attached)
No SD / No ADS
ESP/ASR off
LC on all runs (though on Run #3 did not realize that race started and left 3 seconds late!)
VCDS for ADS (Engine/Throttle on Dynamic)
190lb Driver
1/4 tank of gas
No spare/tools
DA = So, I tried to calculate DA myself searching for info on the internet and came up with 3189 (using elevation 1100, temp 82.4, pressure 29.78 and humidity 35). Car thermostat showed temp of 86-88 though so not sure how accurate theweathernetwork.com is.
Anyway, using dragtimes.com's calculator, I get the following:
With DA of 4521
Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
12.524 @ 111.226 MPH
Extensively Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
12.708 @ 109.539 MPH
Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
12.956 @ 107.439 MPH
With DA of 3189
Stock and Mildly Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
12.754 @ 109.268 MPH
Extensively Modified Naturally Aspirated Engines
12.902 @ 108.001 MPH
Extensively Modified Supercharged and Turbocharged Engines
13.062 @ 106.6 MPH
Would appreciate if someone could validate the DA and let me know what my corrected time would be?
Anyway, was just reading this thread about setting Engine/Throttle to "Auto" to get better times... Will try different settings next time I can make it out. Oh yeah, one last thing I did differently on the last run was to drive around the wet spot where other cars were doing burnouts. Maybe not having wet tires helped my last run?
One quick thought. Drag racing in our cars is probably not as fun as for those with other cars because the S4 so effortlessly performs and completes the 1/4 mile. I bet it's more of an adrenaline rush when you're driving a car that actually feels like it's going 100 mph at 100 mph instead of feeling like we're just cruising along at 60 mph when we're actually crossing the 1/4 mile mark at over 100 mph! It'd probably be more exhilarating to do a 1/2 mile race since we'd get to see our speedometer cross the vertical halfway mark (120mph)!
Lastly, in addition to being taxed nearly 10% (and over in some areas) here in CA, we can only get 91 gas so we're unlikely to be able to compete with the times of those in more fortunate states where 92/93 is available (unless we get 100 race gas)... =/

I posted a huge review on the track my car DSG with front resonators removed the small ones and an X pipe in place everything else stock on half tank my best time was 13.098. I think if I removed the tire and had a little less gas I could of hit 12.9 it was also 36 degrees celcius and 45% humididty. 2011 DSG

Not bad overall, but with that 60' time, you likely need to stage as shallow as possible and work on launch tecniques.
