On another note, Josh is probably the only one here who has any interest, I got the stock M30 motor to turn over and idle smooth as silk on my megasquirt setup today. Time to play with timing and fuel curves/maps. Just a bit more tweaking before I can try testing it on the turbo'd motor... but even that's still a couple of months out, need little odds and ends to button it all up.

Congrats dude! That's great. I have never used MS but, or any other form of management, i can't imagine it is easy.

I've been kicking myself for over a year now for not scooping up this 200 Avant that was local to me. It had been pretty much abandoned at this truck stop right off of the interstate. I had been eyeballing it for nearly 5 years and it hadn't moved an inch and had 1 or 2 flat tires. I'd been contemplating for awhile talking to the owner of the truck stop saying that I'd be willing to take it off his hands if he'd be willing to sign the abandoned vehicle paperwork so I could get a title. Then out of nowhere the car disappeared about 6 months ago. I'm sure they just finally got it towed away to get it out of their lot.

There is some trimming involved, but yes. Its just frustrating because the dudes picture showed a brilliant red car, which is what I have and then I asked if it was the same red as in the picture. He just goes, yes it is red. I email back and forth and ask for pictures and the pics looks a bit darker and I sent a picture of a brilliant red TT next to an amulet TT and asked which one it was. His response was that the a4 only came in amulet....... ummm. If you know the paint code tell me that to start with and don't string me along.

If he thinks the A4 only came in amulet, then I doubt he knows the paint code. As he said, it's "red". That's probably the extent of his knowledge.

Yeah, oh well, it was kinda hammered anyway. From the pictures he sent it definitely wasn't brilliant red though. The scuffs on the bottom wouldn't really bother me, I could have just done a cupra lip or something, but its not worth getting since I have a brand new one and both would need to be painted anyway.

I only wanted to swap because the paint wouldn't be brand new so it would match my rock chipped up front end. Putting a freshly painted valence on a hammered upper half would look like shit. Same with painting the bumper only and leaving the hood and fenders. I guess I could just buy a can of paint from that color match website for $25. Spray it and then throw some gravel at it for a half hour or so lol.

Find out where the PO of my car drove and go there. You can't really tell because its silver and the undercoat is gray, but the front end of my car is rock chipped to hell and back.

Personally, I'd mold it and paint the entire bumper. I think the USP lower looks so much better when it's molded in.

Regardless, it couldn't hurt to purchase it now and have it for when you have the funds to paint the entire bumper. Worse case you just sell it for the $100 you paid for it.

I already have a brand new one sitting in my basement with center and fog grilles ready to go. The only point was to save on paint cost, but since it isn't the same it is about as worthless as a Canadian nickel. I just don't know when I am going to have a spare $1500 laying around to paint the front end of my car. And then I will probably want to do clear bra too. Probably the earliest I could throw down on getting all that stuff painted is next spring.

Am I wrong, but I don't think these parts which were listed in my estimate will fit together:

Weeeeellllllll.... it came up in the regional classifieds. Was a mess picking it up (if you remember numerous pages ago my argument with another member on here who I felt was trying to screw me on the price). I ended up getting it as I had cash in hand though the seller was holding it for someone else (had been for three weeks at that stage).

Paid $200 for the bumper, one fog grille, filler plate and the center grille. There was a warp in the bumper where the filler plate installed which I needed to fix, the lower grille had a cracked surround and missing insert, I was missing one fog grille and it's mounting kit and traded my A4 fogs for the S4 fogs. I also paid for the missing fog grille as the seller said the dealership his car was at was supposed to give him a new one, but I got fucked on that situation.

And here's a PM I sent someone on Vortex regarding the S4 bumper:

    To help you out.

    http://www.prestigebumpers.com/20aus4sefrbu.html

I have looked for a long time and that's the best deal I found.

I'm not sure how much you've looked into getting a S4 front bumper, but trust me, it won't be cheap. I got lucky and found someone local who didn't know what he was sitting on, so I picked mine up with almost everything (filler plate, lower center grille, right side fog grille, washer caps and tow hook cover) for $200 and had it painted.

On average, I see these things sell on Audizine for $350-400 usually missing a few components and barely ever in the color I needed. The only time I found a complete bumper in silver, it was $500.

The link above I think is a completely bare bumper, meaning you'll need the washer caps and tow hook cover. I know the washer caps from your A4 bumper won't work on the S4, but the tow hook cover might. You'll also need the fog light grilles and lower center grille along with the washer jet guides - the jet guides are the plastic housing in which your headlight sprayer sits in.

Here's a list of part numbers that you may need. http://genuineaudiparts.com/ is the cheapest place to find these parts unless you know someone at a dealership and can get dealer pricing. Dealer pricing is pretty much the same, you just save on not needing to ship.

Fog light left side - 8E0941699A
Fog light right side - 8E0941700A
Fog grille left side - 8E0807681B01C
Fog grille right side - 8E0807682B01C
Fog grille mounting kit (this part is needed ONLY if the bumper is missing the insert tab for the fog grille screw to lock into. Otherwise the fog grille already comes with the screw meaning you won't need this.) - 8E0898193A
Headlight washer cap left side - 8E0955275BGRU
Headlight washer cap right side - 8E0955276BGRU
Lower center grille (black surround) - 8E0807647F5PV
Lower center grille (chrome surround) - 8E0807647B3SR
Washer jet guide left side - 8E0807787A
Washer jet guide right side - 8E0807788A
    Plate filler - 8E0807977GRU

    Things to note:
    * Your fog lights will not work with this bumper - the mounting brackets are different.
    * Your washer caps will not work as the shape is different.
    * Your tow hook cover may work, but I have not tried.
    * It's difficult to find a complete bumper, but if you want one it's worth looking around in the classifieds and hoping you can find one.
    * It's not going to be a cheap swap, unless you get really lucky.

Yeah, that is correct, the grilles aren't correct.

And Josh, I don't have a quote from anywhere, but that was just my best guess. Either way even if it was $800 its not something I am prepared to do right now. My rear bumper ended up being $800 when I got rear ended and there wasn't really even any damage. They basically just sanded it and sprayed it. And the kid that I bought the car from had a receipt for painting my lowers which ended up being around 1K, so I figured doing a full front end would be more than that. Plus I will be doing my side skirts at the same time since I blew it and didn't do them at the same time as my door blades.

Thanks TJ, I can comfortably say the S4 bumper is out. Now I need to figure out how to go with a USP but still be able to afford it. That is, if I even want to go USP. I'm still on the fence.

Good news is I could go with the grilles above and then use the original lower bumper valance below:

    http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/x,ca...5,parttype,820

and still come out on top. Maybe now is the time for an entire car respray? ;)

$1k to paint lowers? Dear lord that's expensive. You guys should hunt for a local painter in Seattle who caters to German cars. We have one here.

Regardless of cost I can't spend money on mods for a while. I am still hurting from the whole head gasket deal. That ran about $1,500 in parts. I am going to try to only do maintenance for a little while. I have blown way too much money on stuff for this thing.

I'm still curious if negative width spacers will allow for less offset in the front.

And having looked at this "diagram" again, I'm 110% sure this guy has zero clue what he's talking about. Because spacers don't affect camber in any conceivable way. And definitely won't give you "Possitive" camber...

Its a retarded way of illustrating that spacers increase offset. Like really retarded.

the best part is those b5 guys were calling TJ an asshole for telling the guy he doesn't know what he's talking about. So dumb.
