Did it on purpose. I didn't realize how much I raised my front coils for winter. I'm going to lower them at some point today.

Brought the front down a bit. Would have went lower, BUT I'm an idiot and went the wrong way the first time round and raised the car. Then, for some odd reason, the hex bolt that is supposed to lock the adjustable perch in place on the passenger side, decided it wanted to turn and turn and turn. I can't really move the perch, so I'm not too concerned, but irritated. And to top it all of, my left front inner CV boot is leaking (or so I think). I swear this is the same axle I just replaced last year. Pics of the leak at the end for confirmation that's what it is. Looks like CV grease and it's at the bottom of the axle.

But otherwise, pics. Lowered the car just shy of an inch. Will probably take it down a bit further to 23.5" GTF. I'm happy for now. The rear needs work - I'm swapping out to 6" Hyperco springs for more low.

nice! That will be my goal when we put a new motor in the Camaro. Speaking of which, my dad was supposed to start pulling up the carpet to replace the floorboards this week.

I found some spacers local. 5, 10 and 20. 20s will be too much, but will 5s be too little? I like how 5s don't need extended lugs.

The rear is perfect as far as I'm concerned.

Looks like the diff seal is leaking. That doesn't look like OEM axle grease.

And what does that mean in terms of repair? Do it ASAP? Easy fix?

    Josh,
I'm on my phone and did a quick search - useless to be fair. I can't find info on a leaking front differential, just rear and center (unless the center is the front and I' dumb).

I'm also confused becauase the only pics I saw all had the distinct coloration of oil. My leak is definitely gray in color. It doesn't feel quite as thick as CV grease, but also not as thin as oil.

I only noticed the fluid at the bottom of the inner axle - nothing seemed abnormal at the top (though that's most likely due to gravity regardless of what's leaking).

You're the first to suggest a bad seal. I personally haven't a clue.

That would be the front diff. The center is at the end of the trans and the rear is, well in the rear.

Since the axle side looks cleaner then the diff side I'd bet the diff seal is bad. Other wise wouldn't there be a leak from the boot to that area? And I think Audi may use a "life time" oil in that diff or it could share the same ATF fluid in the transmission, I am not sure. But judging by the darkness, the location, and the way it looks like it is leaking I'd say its the seal. Unless there is something I don't know about the way Audi seals that flange to the diff.

Now I haven't replaced one on the A4 but it will most likely entail removing the axle, removing that flange, and hopefully popping out the old seal and installing the new one.

I'm leaning towards you being more correct. The leak is too consistent to be axle grease. It doesn't have the same charactersistics as it did when my rear boot went bad.

I'll double check with my buddy. We were planning to fix it next weekend and put new springs in the rear coils.

there are plenty of 17" OEM wheels and aftermarket wheels that clear the larger brakes. Its only the HP2's that i run that i have a hard time finding wheels to fit.

I don't want to run 17's again though :p I need to buy new wheels anyway and I think 18's would look better.

How much should I expect to pay to upgrade my brakes?

what brakes are you looking for? B6S4' are gonna run you around $450-$500 full front set. about $800 F&R

or do B7A4 fronts and rears for cheaper.
