The final stages of Tweetss4estate Imola avant build thread

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I don't normally do these build threads because they take so much damn time and because you always have to go and take pictures as things are going in and you have to update all the time.. ugh. Well I promised a friend that I would make a thread on my car so here it is.

The list of mods expected as for now:

-A modified ARD with brand new GT 2873 HTA turbo, still the tial Vband housing.
-3" downpipes modified by AMD to have dual QTP electric exhaust dumps.
-No longer am I using the VAST custom twin disk clutch, I put that clutch in my silver car and had an issue that is going to be resolved, I'm going with a CM 850 high rate spring/ ceramic twin-disk.
    -83mm Wiesco pistons by AMD
    -IE rods.
-Close to aquiring 2.4L heads and RS4 heads, we will see what happens.
-Supertech Valves and Springs (not oversized)
    -2.8L cams (for now)
-Rebuilt Tranny with a custom 1st and 2nd gear (changed ratios to 2.7 first gear, and 1.75 second gear)
-AMD 19 Row custom RS4 bumper intercoolers,
    -AMD 2.75" inlets
-RS4 intake manifold and all other RS4 parts.
    -Stock ECU.
    -AMD fueling and breather system
-Aquamist Methonal with custom tank mount
    -Single muffler 3.5" AMD exhaust.
-Nitrous Express instaboost nitrous controller with nano kit to ensure consistency.
-Mental Custom engine mount brakets supported by stern tranny and engine mounts.

    Goals: (numbered in importance)
    1. As reliable as possible to make trips to FL and back.
    2. Mid 4sec 60-130
    3. 9 sec ET and low 150's mph trap in the 1/4 mile
    4. 200mph in the standing mile

A HUGE thanks to Jason at AMD for picking up the pieces and getting a complete package setup, its nice to have a car delivered completed.

To Papa Coe for fronting the cash when I ran out, and letting me pay him back

To my brother hunter for helping me out and driving my shizzle around when I couldn't. Everytime he has my car he clay-bars it and waxes it. Best big brother I could ever have.

I will not have the answer to everyone's questions, I will not always be able to immediately update this thread. You can comment on my mistakes or mis quotes but please do not whore or troll this thread unless its guru because I already started the smack talk (I'm trying to keep swearing out of this thread as well).
Enjoy the pictures, and Let the thread begin!

Inside the rear intake port on the passenger head

    The passenger head

Adam Chesney looking over the engine.

We threw the old 2868 turbos on to see what it looked like

Another 2868 (old setup) Turbo on manifold shot

    And another one

Hot side picture on manifold gotta love those V-bands

    A different angle

    A different angle again

Engine bay sparkling clean before install

The sub and box pulled out JL Audio W-0 series. I'm going to do quick disconnect on it for racing and what not.

    Tall shot of E98 barrel

Or I can use some of my brothers fuel..

definitely happening! most likely this winter.

Good looking rear end.. Where's the exhaust though?

The Pande and friends Piston. Thanks for holding it up Adam

    Mental's new billet compressor wheel!

Adam sitting in the avant critiquing my head unit.

DurtyEuro and I holding up the dp and turbo.

Another shot of that, by this point it was 3:00ish A.M.

Going into the trailer, headed to Grand Rapids, MI but ending up in WA at AMD

    In the trailer

A shot of the engine with the trailer hooked up

Those are all the pictures I have for now. Look for more soon. Again enjoy.

I will do that when I re-install it. But The sub and the deep part of the box sat where the CD changer and jack would be and wrapped around forward all the way to the back seats.

In my next engine, I wont do a girdle again, too much of a pain for ther hours invested in the engine.

We have proof at the shop now that a goo machined 3.0L without girdle will survive normal track abuse...

So much a pain leak wise, too, we had to remove the upper pan 3 times.

One hell of a build. That's true dedication when you take a second job for your car. I hope it all works out as planned.

Yeah if it was something that was under 1000chp I wouldn't have done it probably but I want it to break some sort of record when its done.. IDK I hope your shop can prove me different but I will stick with this for now. Where's the LSX at? hows it coming?

Really lost interest in the project, it'S on a shelf for the moment.

I'm just finishing my DD B6 avant swapped with a Tip 4.2

I'm gathering part at the moment to build back a V6 single Turbo on a fixed budget but faster than my car was. I will work on this this winter.

The V8 may end up in my Boat, lol

haha NICE well if you do put it in your boat be careful with your drive ratio because some of these offshore guys are having a hard time spooling them.

HA! right!. I think it will be 2ish weeks before it is ready for the break in cruising. Then it goes under the knife at Pande's again. I'm excited to see where it can go with him. He brings a lot to the table that domestic/jdm guys are doing that isn't even on our radar yet. I'm also happy to see VAST and Pande working together and helping each other out. Its been a wonderful experience to do this build. Other than being in debt for the third time in two years of course lol..

Never seen a car without a girdle failed in a way where the girdle would have helped. Especially with the 4 (6) bolt S4 mains

That may be true, but I haven't seen an APB engine with my set up and nitrous on top of it all either. I just want to be sure I've done everything to prevent any problem from happening.

No its not as simple as throwing it on there you have to shimmy spacers you have to make sure everything seals right, you have to completely change the oil pan you have to alter the oil pump location, etc. it is a headache if you really don't need it. and unless you're making BIG power you don't need it. Some say you don't ever need it because it is a 4 bolt main. Either way it is a lot of money to install and a lot of work if you install it.

mmm thats a bummer. I would be installing it myself. I have it sitting on my shelf in the garage. Basically bought it just to do everything I could all at once and build the bottom end as strong as possible so I would never have an issue with it.
